Where do you buy your applecare?

I didn't know there were options? Would love to know as well.:)

For items I have purchased Applecare for (laptops, our new iMac), I just purchase it at the same time I am purchasing the item. Our last bunch of Mac stuff came through Amazon, and other times we have purchased directly from Apple either online or at the store. I didn't think the price was any different, but I don't remember (I think I picked Amazon to save a few bucks or shipping or something - but it was generally the same as directly through Apple for what we purchased).

I really recommend it for big things but I have never purchased it for anything like an iPod. I don't have it on our phones either. Just actual computers and it has really come in handy a few times over the years. Normally I never purchase extended warranties on anything.

We always buy it at the same time as we purchase the hardware from Apple or the local MacTown store that is an authorized retailer

Usually at applestore. Once at Wal-Mart, though it only saved about 2 cents!

It is a $65 savings to purchase on amazon.com I have a MacBookPro 15" and on the Apple.com website the Apple Care is $349 vs. Amazon $285.

DH thinks I am crazy to spend that much as we never buy extended warrantees. I am still trying to decide what to do.

Ebay can be cheaper but I am not sure it is authentic.

First of all, let me say I feel the AppleCare warranty is worth every cent you pay for it, even if you pay "full" price.

However, I have purchased 3 AppleCare warranties for the iPod touch & 1 for an iPad, all off eBay, and saved 30%-50% off the normal Apple price. As long as you buy a sealed package from a reputable seller you will have no problems.

Shoot! I think I have really messed up.

I could have sworn I bought my Mac last March/early April.

Turns out I ordered it Jan. 31, 2010 and registered it Feb. 3, 2010, meaning I have 3 days to get it registered!

I think my less expensive options just went out the window. Can I order from the Apple site and do it immediately or will I have to wait for shipping?

DRAT! I can't believe I bought it this time last year....I don't know WHY I thought I bought it in March.

I'm pretty sure you have to have the box with the numbers on it - nothing you can do online. But you could always e-mail Apple and ask (don't they have a chat option on their website - can't remember).

But I looked - you are right - we only paid $206 for the Applecare from Amazon for our MacBook Pro (smaller one) instead of the $249 list price. I guess that is probably why I did purchase from Amazon. Our iMac Applecare was also about $30 cheaper.

Worked for apple telesale...As long as you purchase the applecare today and have the recipt they will honor it. It goes by date of purchase though not the day you registered it.

So what do you get with Applecare that is better than your credit card warranty? -- Suzanne

THANK YOU!

I hit the purchase button on amazon and am on hold with Apple to verify that they will honor it.

Sounds like they will.

Wow! I learned something new!

command/shift/3 takes a screen shot of whatever you have up on your computer at the moment!

I had to take a screenshot and then email it to apple to prove I purchased it today as they said they can't take a forward, they need a screenshot!

How cool! Now I can do screen shots!

FYI-the one I use the most...Command/Shift/4 -mouse pointer turns into a crosshatch and you can drag it across anything on your screen and that becomes a copy (if you don't want to copy your entire screen;) I don't print anything anymore if I don't have too.:lmao::thumbsup2

Applecare is more about technical support (and more) while your CC warranty does not provide anything like that.
