Everyone always says "oh, what a beautiful baby". So, where do all the ugly people come from?

Do they start out as beautiful babies & then grow ugly?

Or, are people just saying the baby is beautiful?

Inquiring minds want to know. ;)

My Dad always threatend to beat us with an ugly stick... maybe there are lots of ugly sticks in this world.... :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

I used to think the same thing, are people lying or do babies become less attractive as they age? And I can honestly say that people lie :guilty: This is true when it comes to other friends/family members babies (you can't be honest and say the baby is NOT beautiful). Strangers however, if strangers say your baby is cute then I think you can rest assured he/she is because a stranger has no reason to comment at all  I know I've never called a stranger's baby cute when it wasn't:rolleyes1

Honestly, no one's going to call a baby ugly. ;) A family friend just had a baby and I told my parents I was ecstatic that I didn't have to lie that she was cute since the baby was seriously beautiful.

I worried about this.

All moms think their babies are the most adorable creatures ever, right? And everyone tells new mommies that babies are so very, very cute.

So, I wondered if I had ugly babies. Because I'd never know (being blinded by the mom thing) and nobody would ever tell me (because people don't do that)...so I worried that my babies might be ugly and I'd never know.

Of course, they weren't. They were the cutest little babies ever born...I can tell! And people said so! :teeth:

I know people that call babies ugly, not to their parents though. I've also known very beautiful people who have become less attractive once I've gotten to know them. On the flip side, I've known ugly people who have become very beautiful and attractive to me because of their personality.

Years ago at work a customer that recently had her baby came in. A guy I worked with had a habit of speaking without thinking. He came over to see the new baby and took one look and said, "so where do you think she got that nose from?" I had to walk away. We were all thinking it only he said it.

For the record I have only seen one baby that I didnt think was cute, thats not too bad.

All babies are beautiful. I guess it all depends on if you define 'beauty' by their features or by their soul. :)

I worked with a woman whose baby looked just like Mason Reese and it was a girl. All I could say was "oh look how big she is"

I agree that while very few babies are ugly (less than 2%), most are beautiful!!!!!!! I believe that God made babies beautiful so that the parents would give them better care. Unlike animals like dogs, cats, horses, etc... human babies are TOTALLY dependent on their caretakers for a long time. Funny that humans are the smartest beings, but most animals can walk and eat on their own right out of the womb which we can't do. An infant would die if left unattneded and there wasn't someone love and take care of him/her-- hence the cuteness baby factor.

As kids age, their looks change and it only gets worse as they are able to care for themselves. By the time they are teenagers they can fend for themselves, so looks are no longer important for survival.

I think lots of babies are ugly, but of course one can't say that to their parents. My own two nieces looked like nothing more nor less than tomatoes for the first few months of their lives.

Cheers!

LOL Mason is cool! Actually, he was kind of cute as a kid! See what I mean (see above post)?

I always had the theory that cute babies turned into ugly adults and that ugly babies turned into attractive adults. I don't know. I'm usually wrong about these things. LOL.

This one must be one of that 2% then. :rotfl:

All newborn babies (including my own) look like Alfred Hitchcock..after that then beauty is in the eyes of the beholder takes over.

I've seen some physically unattractive babies that I told the parents were beautiful. Like someone said about their souls, all babies are beautiful to me. The parents of those that haven't been blessed with perfect features probably need to hear it even more, so I'm actually more likely tell a stranger that their baby is beautiful, when it's "ugly".
