Where do toddlers sleep??

Hello!

We pushed this years trip to September 2023 so instead of having a 19 month old we'll have an almost 3 year old. We had originally planned on using our pack and play, but that won't be an option for next year.

So where do 3 year olds sleep in the resorts? Does she get her own queen bed? Plan on her sleeping with us in a king? How to we keep her from falling out of the bed? Help 😅

I know by then she will be in a toddler bed at home (which is hard to imagine), so am I overthinking her falling out?

ETA: So I worry about falling since most of the beds have been raised up to fit luggage underneath and most rooms now have hard laminate. I'm sure she will fall out of her bed at home at some point but it's closer to the ground and we have carpet.

Thanks everyone! Switched to having two queens and will request bed rails.

We requested 2 bed rails, one for each side of the bed and put our luggage at the foot of the bed. Our son was and still is a big move in his sleep kid. He never fell out.

That’s a great idea for the luggage! The beds look so far off the floor. Did he sleep in his own bed or with one of you?

You can ask for bed rails. Or, many resorts have smaller, lower to the ground daybeds or pull down beds.

by age 3 she will have most likely fallen from a higher distance than from the Disney bed height. both of my girls and most of my grandkids were clearing crib rails by 19 months. granted we had a low bed but both girls learned to stay on their bed with out rails. we have also had a young grandson who hated rails. he was kicking them off hotel beds well before 3 years of age and usually slept at foot off his toddler bed way from rail. so good luck with your plans and we and our adult kids as parents have never slept with our kids in same bed on vacation

We always ask for bed rails. Usually one of us will start out on the same bed as our ds and then move to the other bed once he’s asleep

We used inflatable bed rails when our son slept on a pullout couch at a hotel recently. They worked perfectly. He moves around while he sleeps but ever since we switched him to a toddler bed, he generally keeps his head at the same end of the bed. In the crib he used to flip all the time. :D

Can you request pack n plays or cribs from your resort?

You can request a pack n play, but my almost 2 year old has practically outgrown them. And she's not long for her crib either.

We just put two stuffed carry on bags under the sheets and made our own barrier back in the day. Wow, people are posting about inflatable bed guards???? What would John the Father from Carousel of Progress say about that?

We started taking our kids when they were 18 & 31 months old. They always just slept in the other queen bed without issue. Unless your kid falls out of the bed at home, the likelihood of them doing so anywhere else is pretty slim. Some ask for bed rails or put the pool noodles under the sheets. We just put the extra pillows on the ground. They was just what everyone did and were fine.

A lot of toddler beds now come with built in railings so it’s hard to tell if they’ll fall out or not. My son moves around a ton and when he slept on his new toddler bed at my mom’s, that didn’t have a rail, he fell out several times. :( Obviously hotel beds are bigger so it’s less likely he’d roll off, but with him I’m not taking any chances. :D

We visited my parents last month and let ds sleep on a full sized bed. We put pillows on both sides of him and he managed to fall off the very end of the bed in the morning 🤦🏻‍♀️ We think he woke up and walked right off without thinking. He still sleeps in a crib at home though

we have a grandson who at toddler time hated rails and if they were not attached he would kick them out and just get up when he decided it was time to get up. and yes he was the same one who got the short nap and screamed for 2 hours even though he was very tired. and at 13 years of age now he still marches to his own drummer who we pick our battles with
