Where do FL college students vacation?

Okay, I know this sort of question has been asked ad nauseum, but I'm still unclear: Do college students who go to school (and whose families by and large live) in Florida commonly spend spring break at WDW, or do they escape to more distant climes? Thank you very much! It's a little scary to discover that the Univ. of Central FL and another huge state school in FL have spring break during my intended vacation dates.

I usually stayed at home in Ft. Lauderdale for my spring break when I was in college (it wasn't that long ago and my boyfriend at the time, who is now DH, lived there). We went to WDW a lot when I was at UF but never during spring break. I don't remember any of my friends going there either. One time everyone went to the Keys. I've heard of some people going to Mexico. UF is a big school so I can't speak for everyone. Hope this helps.

Thank you, ufgator! That is actually really helpful. Plus, your username lends you instant cred! I hope your experience is the norm.

I was a Florida college student and we NEVER did Disney on Spring break. Spring Break is all about the beaches. I don't think that the FL colleges having their breaks during your vacation will significantly effect the crowds.

Unlike what some think........just because we live in Florida, I personally love staying in florida and dont feel I have to travel far to "be on vacation". In fact we go to disney for nearly everything. We just figure, "hey we live in the entertainment state of the country.

You will see college aged kids at WDW, but most would rather go to the beach!

i GUESS it all depends on where you live. I live at the beach and quite frankly I've not been to the beach in months, and I live RIGHT NEAR IT and in south florida on one of the most beautifully rated beaches in the state. I guess I just feel that it's boring at the beach.

I went to school in Daytona Beach, and while I mostly stayed there and worked in a restaurant during spring break, my college friends and I all had annual passes to Pleasure Island. Thanks for bringing back memories!

Having attended one large state public school for two years in the northern part of the state and a smaller private university in the southern half of the state, I can second the opinion that Florida college students RARELY go to WDW over their spring breaks. Many travel back to their homes in Michigan and New York (they went to college in FL for a reason!) and the rest hit the beaches. Very few hit an amusement park, much less Disney. Universal and Bush Gardens were always bigger draws for the roller-coaster factor.

You should have no problem from college kids on spring break.

It's the elementary school kids on spring break you have to watch for! :earseek:
