Hi,
Where are you buying your trip cancellation/interruption insurance from??
I have a Sept cruise booked (balance is due in a few days) and I would like to purchase some insurance. However one firm said I had to have bought it within 48 hrs of purchasing my trip??? I only put down a deposit.
Any suggestions from other Canadians?
Thanks!!

For CANCELLATION insurance - you need to do it within 48 hours from any third party provider (travel guard, etc...) - your travel agent *should* be able to sell it to you at any point - through their wholesaler or provider.

I have interruption/rental car/medical/baggage insurance through my Visa - RBC.

we use Blue Cross Canada usually.

If u go to google.ca and search Blue Cross Canada u should find it:thumbsup2

You can also check if your are covered at work through a group insurance package (if you have anything like this), that's what I use.

The last few times I've used insuremytrip.ca for cancellation insurance. They will give you a quote for whatever kind of insurance you want from 3 or 4 different insurance companies and you can look over what's covered etc and pick the one you want.

Purchased mine through the travel agent. Not medical though as we have this on hubby's work insurance.

I bought cancellation/interruption/health insurance from pcfinancial.ca. I believe you have to buy the insurance within 48 hours of the final payment, but this may depend on which insurance company you go with.

I used RBC Insurance for our cruise. I had a claim for 1 day since DW got confined to the cabin due to Norwalk and they refunded a day no problems at alll. It was a good expereince.

I actually work for RBC, and always use their insurance. Even before I worked here, I used the RBC insurance through my VISA!

But wherever you choose to go, I definately recommend getting it. It's inexpensive and it's much better to have it and not have to use it than to need it and not have it!
