Where do cabs drop off?

Just wondering where cabs deposit and pick up at Universal. And are there usually cabs waiting or do they have to be called. We are debating a rental car or just taking cabs since it is a short trip.

Cabs drop you just under the moving walkway that will take you into Universal CityWalk. There's a taxi pick up point there as well.

The only thing I don't like when staying near and taking cabs is that I've always gotten someone grumpy since they are doing such a short trip from the park to my hotel.

Right...the cab pick up/drop off is next to the main rotunda of the parking complex.

If you do pick up a cab at Universal, be sure to get one using the official Taxi booth. The booth is to the right as you get off the escalators, can't miss it. There are some less scrupulous drivers that wander around that area picking up unsuspecting people and overcharging them (they're "hire cars" rather than taxi cabs - no meters).

We just got back last week, and it was normally 8.80 or so to get a ride with the official cabs to our hotel (Residence Inn Convention Center). Our friends grabbed one of the hire car people because they didn't want to wait in line at the booth and were charged 17.00 for the same ride.
