Where did you see World of Color? Rate your section!

ok, so there's been ALOT of confusion on where everyone has been seeing the woc show eg what color their section was, was that a wet or not wet area, how the view was, could you see all the projections, where did you line up for each colored section,...you get the picture.

and since apparently each section changes colors each night........ well thats just made all the planning waaaaaaaaay more difficult. below is a pic from mouseplanet of the viewing area so feel free to draw on it and describe:

1) Where you saw the show from
2) Whether it was a fastpass, picnic or preferred dining area
3) What color your section was the night you saw the show (and the other sections if you know)
4) Where you lined up for your section
5) Whether you got soaked, a little wet or stayed dry
6) How the view was, would you watch it from there again?

hopefully all the helpful info that everyone posts up makes planning for the show a little easier

My family and I stood about 5 feet from the vendor with the red/blue uniform in front of the round fountain patio, at the top of the stairs to the deck area. I could touch the "you will get wet past this point" sign.

Excellent view! My DD7 is short and she had a clear view as there were no guest in the roped off stairs areas the vendor is standing in.

This was called the Green section by the announcers and DJ's. We were misted a few times but not enough to really call ourselves wet.

We had Preferred Dinner reservations and I would do it again. AG was great and no-stress seating was worth it. We walked up sometime after 8:00.

Looking back towards Ariel's new ride, blue was to our right, yellow left, red by the Zephyr and orange? on the far right. To finalize, that would be red/yellow/blue/orange? We were in the green section and it included the wet boarded/waterside section as well as some dry land in the center.

Hello everyone! July 8th, my 2 cousins and I went to watch the show, I will love to share my experience with you all. We arrived at California Adventures later than we wanted to . We were in and in line for the World Of Color Fast Pass stations at about 9:50 am. The line was pass the view of Grizzly River Run's last BIG drop. We waited in line for about 25 mins. Finally we got our Fast Pass ticket . We gave our tickets to the Cast Member at the last station (near the Grizzly River Run entrance) We got the Red Section for the 9pm showing. At 7pm, we gathered near the barricades (by the future Little Mermaid Ride) Oh man people can shove their way in closer to the Cast Members, if you let them. Once the Cast Member views our return time, we are off to our section. Red Section was by the Golden Zephyr, the section behind Red was Yellow Section and the middle seemed as if it was Green behind Green Section was Blue and Orange was along the bridge by Ariel's Grotto. We quickly made our way to the WET ZONE right by the water, nobody in front of us. There was lots of space available in the WET ZONE...I'm guessing that people did not want to get wet. Everyone Behind the WET ZONE had to stand for the last 30 mins of waiting for the show to start. We were able to sit While waiting, there were some Cast Members selling drinks and snacks and PONCHOS, hehe. That was pretty cool. We did get misted on lots!! But during the show I didn't really care, since I was so into it. We dried really quick after the show, we were not drenched, I think you get more wet on Splash Mountain. I did video tape and take pictures, I had to keep drying my digital camera with my shirt. I really loved the show!!!! The Red Section was good, but I wish I could have been in the middle. Sometimes the picture getting projected in the middle was hard to see. I would go back to any WET ZONE or Red Section Well...I hope this information was helpful because I sure was looking for information to prep me for my first time watching The World Of Color.

4) They tried seating everybody by color section last night. It was new they said. Everybody lined up by the lighthouse pillar thing by the Little Mermaid construction and then they led the reds first, yellow second and blue last.
5) We got misted multiple times but not soaked
6) View was good, but just for me I would like to experience the show from other places.

We went during the opening week of WoC.

1a. Right by the rail on the 2nd tier for the blue FP

1b. Behind the center circle on the top of the stairs walkway for dining package

3. Blue and preferred dining

4. For both of those nights, we were moved to the blue section on the left side. We waited right next to the lighthouse pillar and they moved all the sections at once, but it has improved since the opening week.

5. In the blue section, we got misted more than the preferred dining. But we did not get soaked on both nights.

6. First was was good, but the 2nd view was a lot better for me and my DA since there was no one on the 1st or 2nd level of the stairway and we have a good view.

6) How the view was, would you watch it from there again? -- Yes, would watch from there again. Both DD and I could see as we were on the railing. For a non-wet zone section, I think it was pretty good. It's at an angle, but we could see the water and the screen quite well. I think yellow probably has the most "good" viewing spots. For Blue, this worked for us because the lower section seemed far enough in front of us that we could see over them. I don't recall seeing kids on shoulders and I made sure the CM told anyone trying to stand on the wall in front of us to get down. LOL.

The X shows were we stood on the railing. The arrow shows the angle we looked.

Where in the viewing area was that rail? I think part of what is trying to be determined here is, "Is the blue section always in the same place?"

Great picture of the seating! DL is really blowing what could be a great time for everyone by making it so confusing to see this show. A simple picture showing where the seating was would have been great when we were there.

We sat in the Blue section. Honestly I don't think there's really a bad place to see the show from. It's much bigger then what you could imagine and to me it's better to see it from farther away.

The Preferred Dining section doesn't really have a color, although Mike Wazowski says it's Green.

4) Where you lined up for your section

I lined up where two CMs told me to line up, which was wrong!

I should have lined up by the Pyramid of Mystery, a.k.a. the "lighthouse looking tower that's across the bridge from Ariel's." The Return Time was "between 8:00 & 8:30pm," but they allowed the guests to enter at 7:27pm, and the front rail in preferred was completely full in 2 minutes. To get a spot at the front rail in the preferred dining section (for the 9:00 show), you would probably want to be there between 6:45 and no later than 7:00.

5) Whether you got soaked, a little wet or stayed dry

A little misting, but was basically dry -- except for one wet breeze toward the end. (It wasn't very windy that night.) After the show I looked at the floor in the yellow Wet Zone and red Wet Zone, and the floor was soaking wet.

6) How the view was, would you watch it from there again?

I really liked the view, but IMO the next time I will play FastPass Roulette for the 11:15pm show. If it's Red: the front rail (Wet Zone) -- as close to the center as possible. If it's Yellow: the front rail (Wet Zone) -- as close to the center as possible. If it's Blue: in front of the "VIP Section."

After the show, I took a photo from the front of the "VIP Section."

On July 22, the colors of the sections seemed to match the following viewing chart -- at least that's what I recall from the Pre-Show color contest:

I didn't state where we lined up. We were the first showing, so if you look at the picture I posted, in the upper right corner where you see that circle of red flowers and the mob of people by it -- that's where they put the barricades up. So we just milled around in that area around 6:30 and got a spot behind the barricade. I can't really remember when they let us in. Maybe 7:15 or 7:30? They then let us sit in the area, warning us that we'd be forced to stand at 8, but that didn't happen. We stood at 8:30 for the pre-show.

For the picture that SS Columbia posted with the sections colored in -- I believe that lower arm in dark blue was for disabled seating on our night. I heard someone with a blue fastpass asking where they'd be put as they had a wheelchair and they were told that section and many of them were let in first.

Okay, see, this is where this gets tough. These two maps don't match.

2. Do the colors really matter at all since it's random FP assignment anyway?
3. If yes to #2, how do the colors matter if you can't switch what you get?

I think the idea that they'd be switching up the colors nightly is probably not accurate. Think of how confusing it would be to the CM's each night, having to figure out which section was which. The Blue CM's carry blue flash lights and the yellow carry yellow, red, red, etc. It seems very clear that the blue is the far right, yellow is more the middle and red is the far left. Now, how they are divided up and where the ropes are may have moved and may not be completely clear yet. Personally, I think the top map is more correct. I don't think red would get all of that front row seating, wet zone or not. I honestly didn't pay attention to how far over the blue wet zone went since it was kind of chilly that night and I knew we didn't want to be down there.

I wish Disney would just publish a map!

And no, I don't think it matters what color you get unless you plan to just toss your FP and try for another night. What a map would help is in planning out which section you want to try to get into in your color zone. Because once the mob rushes in, you don't have much time to change your mind!

Personally, I think the top map is more correct. I don't think red would get all of that front row seating, wet zone or not.

The map that was posted by Brenda 1966 (I think it was made by lurkyloo) is more zoomed in than the map from actor4life18 & DL_1951. (The maps are more similar than different.)

From other accounts (Raindown and DL_1951), the section in front of the "VIP Section" is part of the Preferred Dining and is not blue. This change may have happened after lurkyloo made the map.

Last night (July 22) there was a rope divider between the red Wet Zone and the yellow Wet Zone (actor4life18's map). No guests moved between those two Wet Zones. The way those two areas loaded, I feel pretty confident that they were being fed from two different lines. (The yellow Wet Zone loaded from the east, and the red Wet Zone loaded from the west.)

With regard to the Section Colors: If I get a blue FP (for the 11:15 show), IMO I would try to stand in front of the "VIP Section." From what I saw last night (and from what others have said), the blue Wet Zone looks to be too far to the side. If I get a red FP, IMO I would try to stand in the red Wet Zone, because the rest of the red section looks to be too far to the side. But those are just my opinions.

The colors don't change daily. There are lights in each section that are colored the same as the section's color...so they are the same every day.

I don't think the colors matter all that much since you can't really change it. I agree.


BTW, the second mapping of the section-colors is correct. We sat in the red section for the 9pm show and we were right next to the yellow section on the very very front center in the "wet zone". that's term the CMs used to refer to the wooden boardwalk section in the very front. LOVED our seats. Not a lot of people there, plenty of room to move around, great view, got a little misted but not wet, and best part was that we showed up around 8:30pm to get the seats. Didn't have to wait around in line for a long time beforehand.

Exactly this. The red section fed in from a totally different area and there were CMs watching to make sure the people stayed in their color sections. There were an awful lot of CMs watching out for the seating areas. And yes...a rope divided the yellow and red wet zone sections.

I'm surprised the red goes so much front row seating! In light of this, I think a red FP would be fine -- just bring your ponchos! Yellow clearly seems to be the best, and I would agree that for blue, I would stand where I stood, not down in the wet zone, but up on the next level, in front of the preferred and disabled seating.

When the pre-show was on people were standing on the wall in front of me, from the front side. I made sure to point this out to a CM and she promptly made them get down. I have a feeling people have tried to do this for the show and have also put their kids up there. But really, not only is it rude, it's not safe.

I don't think I would have enjoyed the show as much if I was not on a railling. So, I think it is key to get their early and get those railing spots.

Here's a photo from Thursday, July 22. The rope that's near those four guests divided the yellow and red Wet Zone sections.

The photo was taken at 7:37pm. A CM said that all guests "with wheels" (meaning wheelchairs, strollers, etc.) would be entering the viewing area first.

We saw the show from the preferred dining section - we were at the top of the stairs closest to the water, on the right hand side right by the lamp type thing.

We lined up by the Redwood Trail (I'm not actually sure that name is right but it's something like that) - which would have been fine except that the red fastpass section lined up in the same place! It made things very confusing, and I'm sure some people ended up in the wrong place and had to backtrack.

We had a perfect view - we were at the top of the stairs so no one was directly in front of us, plus we could sit and wait for the show to start. No one tried to put their kids on their shoulders or anything like that. We barely got wet at all - we got a little misted during some scenes, that was it. There was almost no breeze that night though, I guess that makes a difference. I'd definitely try to stand there again!

This was our view:
