Where did you meet?

Work, we were joking around, at work (McD's) about (not kidding you) having big stomachs/bellys , and he came out with the line "I'll show you mine, if you show me yours..."

He brought his friends in to "check me out." I guess I passed because the next day he ask me out.

Guess I should add we were teenagers at the time. :D

For us it was a church group at college -- beginning-of-the-year retreat in September had us sitting next to one another on the four hour ride down there, and we were total strangers. Five days later he proposed. Two months after that, he was shipped to Fort Knox and had orders to head to Desert Storm when he completed his Officer Advanced Camp, which ended that May. Desert Storm ended two weeks before he would have shipped over there. By the end of that summer, and within a year of meeting each other, we were married.

Our 12th anniversary is August 24.
:D

I was working at a calendar store at the mall and Roger was a security guard. The very first time we ever spoke, I had seen him with some woman leaving the mall and then he came back around and saw some people coming into the mall. Since I was sitting between the outdoor door and the inside door, he assumed that I had opened the door for them and said "The mall's closed. Please don't open the doors again." I stood up and said very sarcastically "If you hadn't been so busy flirting with your girlfriend, maybe you would have remembered to lock the doors when you left." He apologized and went on about his business.
About a month later, it was Christmas Eve and he came into the store with some woman and started looking at a San Francisco 49ers calendar and said something about whether Jerry Rice would be with the 49ers the next year. I piped up "are you talking about Jerry Rice?" He said yes and I told him that I thought he'd be back because his life and his heart were in the San Francisco area. Roger said he hoped I was right since he was a 49ers fan and asked me who my team was (I didn't want to tell him since the Broncos had just badly beaten the 49ers the day before, but I told him anyway.) We then introduced ourselves.
After that, he started coming into the shop at least two or three times every time we were both working (more than that if there was a football game on....he updated me at least once a quarter on the score.) He told me he was interested in me about 2 weeks after we met but I was still with Thom, so I told him that all we could be was friends (I won't lie.....there was an attraction there and Thom was cheating on me, but I still didn't want to break my vows just because Thom was.) So, we continued being just friends (best friends) for almost two years. After Thom left, Roger asked me if I was finally free to date him and I said yes. That was last September and we are now living together (along with our kids....we have five kids between us) and got engaged last week.

My DH lived next door to my sister......she helped arrange for a "meeting"!!:D :bounce:

First DH in college...second DH in highschool...lol

Church. He was the new Associate Minister, I was the accompanist for the choir. Never, ever date a minister! ;)

I'm 19 now and I never dated in high school. My friends always got mad at me because I wasn't "boy crazy" like them. Most of my friends liked one boy one week, and another boy the next. They would date someone and after a week get bored, and break up. I'm the type of person that likes one guy at a time and it's usually for a long time, unfortunately none of those guys in high school ever felt the same about me.

It's kind of funny, the guy I'm with now I actually knew in high school. When I was a senior, and he was a junior, we both had the same psychology class. He sat in the back, and I was the quiet girl that sat by herself in the front and we never talked to each other.

In the summer I was introduced by a friend to this guy who was a junior in my school. We both liked each other and were kind of involved but never dated. One day I was hanging out with him and a few of his friends and I realized that one of his friends was the kid in my psychology class. We both mentioned that to each other and after that we started talking.

My whole first year of college I still liked this guy I liked in the summer, but finally realized that he was a jerk. At my sister's sweet 16 party in April, I spent most of my time with the guy that was in my psychology class. After that we started hanging out almost everyday and finally started going out the beginning of May. I'm so happy with him because he is such an awesome guy, and it also helps that my parents are in love with him along with my friends. I didn't have my first boyfriend until about 2 weeks before I turned 19, but I'm happy I waited because I'm glad it's someone like him, and I hope this lasts a long time.

My DH & I met in Junior Year,High School Gym Class! Can it get anymore pseudo-romanitc! UUGH! But its a funny story & its ours. We didn't date while we were in college, we broke up to "see what was out there" and then found our way back to each other!" We will be celebrating our 5 year anniversary this October. :)

I was taking a dance class to impress the guy I was dating who was on a month long vacation in Europe). (CW bar type lessons) DH was there just hanging out and dancing with the participants. Saw him and his current dance partner the following weekend at a club. He asked me to dance (Friday night). Asked me out for Saturday night. And the rest is history.

Of course, I only went out with him to improve my dancing skills for the other guy. Twelve years later.......

I met my DW at a mutual friend's 21st birthday party. We talked a little and danced once. The next day we both asked our friends about each other, but nothing happened for months. Eventually one of our best friends decided to give us a "push" and we've been together ever since -- 6 years on June 12th, 3rd wedding anniversary on July 8th.

Yep, it's true, their not all psychos online.

I was at a friends house and she introduced me to AOL. I was online late one night and he IMed out of the blue. We talked for about 5 hours straight. This went on every night for a week then we decided to meet in person. He was VERY shy and I am very talkative and outgoing. He had (has) very long hair and into Heavy metal. I had outgrown that as a teen. After a few weeks I thought we just didn't have anything in common and sent him home and decided I was going to stop seeing him. Almost immediately I couldln't stop thinking about him. Needless to say I gave it another shot and it was the best decision of my life. He really is quite a catch. I had 2 small children, I was working but still had welfare assistance and he turned my life around. If anyone has heard that song, I will buy you a new life, by Everclear, that is pretty much our story. We now own our own house, have 2 cars, and a child together. It's pretty much the fairy tale life I always wanted. We've been together almost 6 years and will celebrate 4 years of marriage in September.

(We even had a computer shaped cake for the grooms cake at our wedding with our old screen names on them. Thank goodness for AOL! :D )

We met on the DIS boards on the Solo forum. We were going to be in WDW at the same time, scheduled for the same night at MVMCP. I was going down with the other 2 Dudettes and made arrangements to meet this "single guy from Chicago." Just to spend the day since he was going to be there alone.
Well to make a long story short. We spent the rest of the trip with him and despite living over 700 miles apart we have managed to talk or chat online every night and see each other at least once a month since December.
I have met my soulmate!

I truly believe in fate!

DH and I met at a science fiction convention. I wasn't even attending the convention but friends of mine were hosting a room party so I went to that. We were in a sci-fi club at the time and I was the membership secretary. He asking about joining and I gave him one of our newsletters. Inside was the name of a BBS we all hung out on (local BBS's were big then - places like the DIS didn't exist). We started talking almost daily - but in my mind I was picturing the wrong guy :) I liked what I read, but the guy in my mind had left a bad impression.

A few months later he came to one of our meetings and then started hanging out with my circle of friends. Later that summer he asked me out. We first met in Feb. '89, started dating in Aug. '9, got engaged in March '90 and married in October of '90.

He is my best friend, my lover, and my soul mate. I'm really glad my friends talked me into coming to that party!
