Where did you meet?

We met in college, but he always came into classes with a girl... I thought was his GF, but turned out to be his cousin. After college, I worked in a bank that I left to work in my current bank. He wound up working at the other bank after I left, and then came to the same bank. Did that make any sense? Anyway, it was like he was following me, or that fate made him follow me. After we worked together for almost a year, he got up the nerve to ask me out, but I sorta didn't realize he was asking me out. He had a GF, actually, my cousin's best friend and kept asking me about cameras. I am my favorite amateur photographer and he wanted a new camera, so he asked me to help him buy one. When I agreed to that, he told me that I should pick a movie to see for him to thank me for helping him. Sure, no problem... then the movie turned into "where do you want to go to eat before the movie?" That's when I realized that it would be a date. He took me to the Poconos for dinner and by the time we were finished gabbing, it was too late to see a movie. He broke up with the other girl the next day. That was in January 1990.

This Saturday is the 10th anniversary of the day we got engaged. The years just keep getting better and better!

I worked at a bank and had just transferred to a new branch. My DH came in one day and recognized that I was from a different branch. He made some comment about "being a girl that really gets around"... He was nervous and it didn't come out exactly like he intended. Flustered hotties in a uniform get me every time! :p ;)

We met when I was 11 and he was 13. :sunny: He was my brother's best friend and dirt biking companion. It was love at first sight on my part, not so for him. I was just a skinny gawky kid to him. I told my mother I was going to marry him the first day I met him, she of course was horrified since I was 11, LOL!

Anyway, I grew out of the gawky stage a few years later, he realized he loved me, and we ended up being high school sweethearts. We separated for a year when I went to NYU and he stayed home to go to Univ. of Maryland; but he ended up missing me so bad he transferred to NYU. Ahhh, the things we do for love. :)

We'll be married 17 years this August. I've spent almost my entire life with this man, and I still to this day marvel at how very lucky I am. :) Marriage can be so tough, but when you have a partner who really knows you through and through, it makes even the tough days look easy. I'm so incredibly blessed! :)

(Sappy, but true! :p )

He walked right into my livingroom. He was a friend of my sister's and wanted to meet me. He knew my whole family before I ever met him, and they all liked him. He asked me out on a date and the rest was a whirlwind. A week after we met he picked me up and before I came downstaires he said to my mother "I'm going to marry your daughter." That was in Nov. We got engaged in Feb. early Valentine surprise. We were married in Aug. and we've been happily married for 13 years.

What sweet stories....some are new, some I've read before but they are so neat that I'll never tire of reading them!

DH and I met in Daytona Beach during Spring Break 10 years ago this month. I was from Alabama but was going to school in Utah...he was from Connecticut but was going to school in Florida....needless to say it was a long distance relationship for awhile. My mom thinks we were meant to meet and be together because it was like I came full circle just to find him. I grew up in FL, moved to AL and went way out west to college...but was "home" in FL with my childhood friends when I met Rich.

BTW....for all you young ladies who haven't dated yet...my 21 yo DB went to his senior prom back in 2000 and that's been it! He will be a senior in college this fall and hasn't dated!!! He's super handsome, is attending UAH on an athletic/academic scholarship, and get this....he teaches Sunday School to the 10-11 year olds at church. What's wrong with the girls around here??????;)

DW and I met on a blind date. Today(May 27) is our 31st. wedding anniversary. This is the second marriage for both of us.

DF and I met on the Internet back in the summer of 2000, at a place called MPlayer, which used to be a voice chat network. (Doesn't exist anymore, sadly.) I popped into a chat room but I couldn't get my microphone to work, so I was just about to log off when I got a private message from some lad who said he'd read my profile and wanted to say hello. We chatted for a bit that night and off and on again when I got my microphone working, and slowly we became more and more attracted to eachother's voices.

After a few months of friendship, I asked him for his address to send him a mix CD for Christmas. He happened to mention that he was Jewish, so I changed my mind and sent him a Hanukkah teddy bear instead. But silly me, I forgot to sign the card, so when he received it, he had no idea it was from me. Unfortunately we somehow managed to lose touch with eachother before I knew that my gift had been received.

In the spring of 2002 we happened to see eachother on AIM. He asked me if I'd like to help him organize his computer business, and I asked him if he ever received my Hannukah gift. He was stunned when I confessed that I'd sent it to him, and he said that he'd spent over a year wondering who its sender was. After that, we began speaking on the telephone at length -- sometimes until sunrise! I'd go to work with no sleep and with a scratchy throat, but I knew that someone special was on the other end of the phone line.

In June 2002, we finally made plans to meet eachother. We'd spoken on the phone every single day for a solid month, so we both knew that it was time. When I arrived to pick him up at the airport, my timing must have been slightly off, because for the first 1-1/2 hours I couldn't find him anywhere. (This was at Albany International, a very small airport in upstate NY, mind you!) He was easy to miss though, because we'd never exchanged pictures before. All I knew was that he was a 6ft tall guy with dark hair, and he knew I was a 6ft tall gal with red hair. Finally I saw someone coming towards me with open arms, and the first time we hugged, I knew that I'd fallen in love. ;-)

To make a much longer story short, DF visited for a long weekend, and we immediately made plans for me to fly to Chicago and see him three weeks later. It was during that second visit together that we decided we had to be together, and I called my mother back in Albany to tell her that the next time DF came to visit would be the time he and I would be driving my car out to the midwest and moving in together. Seeing as I was 22 at the time and my parents had never met DF, they were pretty shocked! But luckily for me, my mother had also met her DF online (through AIM, no less!) and he moved to NY to be with her after only four months. "Like mother, like daughter" I said!

That was back in August 2002, and now DF and I will be celebrating our 1 year anniversary next month. It just goes to show, magic and fate DO exist if you believe in them enough! :D

At the Basketball Hall of Fame. He was helping to build it and I was calling on the contractors. I sold him a tool and he asked me for a date.

It's good to hear I'm not the only one :D People always make it sound like somethings wrong with you for being 19 or 20 and not having dated, what's the big deal?

DD is picky, picky, picky! And so she should be. No hurry.

Better than her room mate that has a different "boyfriend" every other week

Take your time.

We first saw each other at a friends b-day party for her 1 yr old. Themom fo the 1 yr old was a co-worker and a friend and her dh was a co-worker and friend of my dh. Well dh is kind of shy so for 7 months we just ask about each other thru our friends and finally one day they were getting new carpet and he was over there helping so I decided to stop by and the rest is history. We have been together eight years and married 4. He is a great step dad to my 2 oldest boys and a great dad to our 2 little ones.
After such a crappy first marriage I had no idea how wonderful it could really be with the right person.

Dh and I met in 8th grade in 1975. We had a couple of classes together and he always bummed gum off of me.He was declared the 1st "Nerd of the Month" at school and ALL my friends could NEVER understand what I saw in him!!!!!! We had our first date about a year later and we dated off and on .off and on,off and on,off and on........for years(he had A LOT of growing up to do!!!) We were engaged when we were in Jr. Collage but we broke up again and eventually he married someone else. I remained in love with him all those years even though I dated other guys. Hi marriage lasted less than 5 years and after a bunch of expensive phone calls we were married in 1988. We had our dd in 1997 and we are still best friends. Still have our rough moments like most marriages but we love each other and have talked about renewing our vows either in the Mts or at WDW. He is still a "nerd" but he keeps me laughing!!!

These are some great stories!!

I fell asleep next to my DH in a bar! I had just found out my Mom was dying of cancer, and my friends had dragged me out to this meat market bar. I was still in college, and not dealing well with the news. I wore no make up and was in a really bad mood. But DH must have seen something!

We dated for 8 months, got engaged, and just celebrated out 23rd Wedding Anniversary this past Saturday!:teeth:

I'm loving these stories!

DH and I met on a cruise to Bermuda. This weekend we will celebrate our 18th anniversary!

On the internet. It gave us the opportunity to get to know each other without letting the physical part get in the way. I fell in love with him as a person before I even got a chance to meet him. Plus we met knowing exactly what the other person was looking for out of us meeting. That way we didn't get into a relationship to have the other person back out saying they don't want that!

I told this story before, but my boyfriend and I met online 3 yrs ago. He wrote me after reading a Beauty and the Beast fanfiction of mine that's on a webpage because he's a big fan of that movie. We started out with a friendship that eventually evolved from nightly internet chats to nightly phonecalls. Since he lives in FL and works at WDW, I was able to meet him in person a handful of times. We declared ourselves and item over a year ago. :) (he had a crush on me from the beginning but I took a while to warm up to him that way) And now I live in FL so we can finally be local!

I'm 21, and Chris is the only guy I've ever really dated! I never went to prom or anything in high school.

We met in 92. We went to colleges in the same city (Worcester). He was a Jr, I was a Sr. He knew my cousin and actually used to have a crush on her.

We had meet casually a couple of times, but then on my 21st B-Day, My cousin and DH came over to our townhouse on campus to celebrate...I was already drunk!!! We shared our woeful stories about our lack of lovelives....then I got wisked away to a bar as I was 21!! He was only 20 and couldnt join us....we agreed to set eachother up.....

Turned out, he was in ROTC (now USAF!) and one of his best friends from ROTC at his school was practically engaged to an underclassman that I knew at my school. He came to our campus to drive Don to see his girlfriend. Called me while they visited....talked a couple of times and then asked me out to a movie....never made it on that blind date.....

Date night....he shows up an hour late (he did call)....this is not a good sign!! On the way home from the movies....I just have to ask him an important question....HIS LAST NAME!!!! We laughed about that one!!! He said he'd call me the next week!!!

I called HIM about a day later, we went bowling and have been together ever since.....started dating 12/2/92, Engaged 1/94 and married 10/29/94 (hence the poohbear1029)

One month after we started dating he left for Thailand for 3 months abroad studying....then came back for 2 months and left for another 2 for ROTC training!!!! That was hard, but helped us get to know eachother...I still have a WHOLE shoebox full of letters.....way back from before email was "BIG"!!!!

I was 21 when I met him....he was only the 4th boy I had kissed and I had only really dated one other boy and that was for a month the summer before I met DH!!

(side note --- the friends in ROTC...also are now married....4 months before us and now have 5 kids!!!! WOW!!))

My best friend was dating his best friend and wanted us to hang out as couples(When we were 15). So, she told me my DH had a crush on me. Her boyfriend told DH that I had a crush on him. What a lie! We've been together 22 years-14 of marriage. Our prom picture still sits next to our wedding picture. I am so glad they lied!

I don't know if this counts, since I'm only 18, but I HATED my boyfriend when I met him.

I first encountered him freshman year of high school. I thought that he was a rude, obnoxious, jerk. I was a shy girl who wasn't yet jaded and who was quite oblivious.

He actually dated my best friend :o and I got to know him. We started talking online and he began to open up to me. He later on told me that when he first met my best friend and I, he was interested in me, but I was so quiet and uninterested. My friend and him dated for only a month, discovering they had nothing in common. I grew closer to him and we became best friends. Around 9 months later, we kissed...it was magical.

We went out for two years. He was my highschool sweetheart. I broke up with him when he went to college five hours away, thinking that if it was meant to be, it will be. We found a way back to each other and as of Saturday, after much fighting over our feelings and denying our true desires to one another, he is my boyfriend again.

I think there is nothing better than being in a relationship with a best friend. He knows me better than anyone else on the face of the earth. He isn't just a "boyfriend", he is my companion, my buddy, my partner for doing everything...my other half. We just compliment each other well.

Blind date to an Orioles game. We've been married almost 19 years.

My dh worked at my families, family business. So he worked for my df. One summer when the plant shut down my dbil, my dh & I had to keep working through the holidays. I worked there during the summer. My dbil told him that since the rest of my family were away on vacation, he should take me out for dinner. Both of us were really shy but he insisted that I should be taken out so we did. He was my first boyfriend. I was 17. That was Aug. By the end of Nov. he unofficially asked me to marry him but he had to get my df's permission first. We got engaged officially on my 18th birthday in Jan. and married that Oct. We will be celebrating 29 yrs. this year. Surprisingly we are still married with everything we have had to deal with but we are. What was really upsetting though was we found out later that at our wedding they were taking bets that we wouldn't make it to our 5th Anniversary. Boy we sure showed them.
