Where did you meet your DF?

ilovefh, wow, that's quite the story!,ahaha My problem is that I work in an office with entirely woman. We've begged them to hire some men, ahaha I'm in my last year of university but I've never met anyone there, not in 4 years of school. I always thought I would. I've been through several bad blind dates, but at least I have entertaining stories to tell. At least reading your stories gives me some hope, thanks for sharing them :D

You know the saying you'll find someone when you're not looking? It's very much true! I was looking, just not at John!

We were friends in High School, went our seperate ways to college and 10 years later bumped into each other shopping at Best Buy, went on our first date 2 days later (his birthday :goodvibes ) and that was it!

My best friend dated DH's best friend but he and I never met each other because we all lived in different cities. Then, my best friend got divorced (it was a good thing, believe me!) and threw a party to celebrate and she invited everyone she knew. I didn't want to go, but a couple other friends of mine were going so I decided to go. DH didn't want to go, but a friend of his convinced him to go. It was really a magic moment when our eyes locked and we ended up talking for 4 hours that night. Our first date was 2 days later and we were engaged 9 months after that.

I love telling people I met my husband at a divorce party :goodvibes

I was not looking to meet anyone at all so that old saying is true - it happens when you're not looking!

I love telling this story!

DF was working with my BFF and was interested in her, but he was shy. She is gorgeous and not at all the "commitment-type", but knew he liked her and so she took him out on some group dates. I met him on one of their group dates and thought he was just another one of her guys... and kind of a loser. :lmao:

So, their relationship fizzled once he got wind of her dating a few other guys at the same time (not his cup of tea), but he became one of the friends in our group. I wasn't really interested, he was all weird and never spoke, and was just kind of background to me.

Then, I started working at the same company, and got to know him better, since he finally started talking. I was single and bored, and needed someone to crush on and so :wizard: poof he was my new crush. I used all of my classic moves on him, (which never worked on any of my other crushes) and I didn't expect anything to come of it.

BUT, apparently my moves worked and he started to become interested in me. One inebriated night, he made his move... and a few days later we started "dating". I let my BFF know, she was cool with it, and now 6 years later we are planning our FTW. My BFF by the way, is my MoH!

My suggestion is, be open to anything and anyone, because you never know what boring loser might turn out to be your prince charming.

We went to HS together but were not in the same circle...he also was a grade younger...and he says I was stuck up and wouldn't give him the time of day...;)

We'll about 15 years later, he found me on match.com and the rest is history! We were married this past June!

I met my DF online - through E-harmony. Largely because I realized that I wasn't going to meet someone any other way... I'm very shy and don't do the bar thing. I had really only had one serious boyfriend before that and a few awkward dates. So I totally know how you feel.

It's funny though because all our friends tell us we are soooo much like those commercials - our first two dates were 5 and 7 hours long but while I loved talking to him I didn't feel an instant spark. But after the first few dates I realized that having to spend all week without seeing each other (we lived about an hour and a half apart) really sucked and started to fall hard. :lovestruc

Also my MOH who is happens to be my BFF told me the first time she met him (about a month into our dating) that we'd be engaged within a year and married soon after... she was sooooooooooooooooo right! Even though back then I laughed at her suggestion and denied it!

I sometimes wonder if we would have met without E-harmony because of the distance and our age difference (I'm 29 he's 35) but our lives and circles have been close for a long time which sort of tells me it was destined. Plus I can't imagine life (both past and future) without him now! Just keep wishing because as all Disney fans know wishes do come true!!princess:

Ok I Met Mine On Myspace Of All Places He Kept Sending Me Messages And We Wemailed Back And Forth Then I Finally Caled Him I Wouldn't Give Him My Number And Iblocked Mine When I Called, We Talked For Ever, After A Couple Days Of Talking I Decided I Would Meet Him For Lunch At A Busy Restaurnat In The Mall ( Very Public Place) He Ended Up Better Than I Thought And 2 Yrs Later We Are Getting Married Next Month !!! Trust Me I Never Thougth I Would Meet Someone Online!! Oh Yea Im 31 Hes 26...... So Don't Give Up, The Age Is No Big Deal Actually Most People Think Hes Older Than Me!!!

met my DF while we were both working at WDW. He was a lighting techinician for Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Show and I was working as a host for Who Wants to be a Millionaire Play it! I don't remember the exact day we met - but we were friends for a good few years before the first date. He used to always refer to me as "talent". The techs did that there... it's so annoying. Grrrr. Five years later... he still works there, I work there on occasion (like when I need new shoes so I pick up a shift) and we're getting hitched. Woo hoo!

I met my fiance through a mutual friend. Neither one of us was interested in dating anyone at the time, since we were both just getting ready to graduate from high school and move on to college. My friend had already introduced him to a lot of her other friends, so he was especially wary. Luckily for both of us, we knew there was something as soon as we met, and he decided to stay in Oklahoma for school instead of moving away. The rest is history, and we've been together almost 5 years :lovestruc

Met mine in 6th grade...he stalked me. We went our seperate ways for middle school then we met again on the school bus in 9th grade...he wasnt creepy anymore!! weve been insperable ever since:love:

Annnn, sweet story :D These are all great. I joined Eharmony tonight, ahaha That questionnaire took forever to fill out. This is actually the second time, I've joined. The first time it chose the WORST matches imagineable, all the men seemed to be the opposite from what I was looking for. Something obviously didn't go right, ahaha So I'm trying again, better luck this time I hope!
Congrats on your engagment!

Yes, it is a sad and pathetic way of meeting folks but my friend had excellent results with this site! One day she came into my office at work and we quickly perused the area we live in. I saw my hubby picture and thought wow he is gorgeous. I emailed him and we started emailing back and forth. After a few weeks of this and phone calls we finally met in public place. He sent a coworker in to check me out. I had brought my beloved little dog " Spike" with me and he wanted to make sure that I wasn't a dog with a dog. I really was expecting a horny little 13 year old to show up and go "hahahahaha" but he really did look just like his picture. His friend sat next to me and ordered his second beer. He made the comment about he hoped I didn't think he was an alcoholic. I replied " go ahead and drink yourself to death, I don't even know you". Anyway, he went back outside and told DH that I was a bit caustic but very attractive and that Spike was cute. We finally met and then went and had dinner. He made a small comment on how he would reluctantly pay for dinner. I let him have it and told him he was a jerk and that I could easily afford to pay for both of our meals. At that point he broke out into a big smile and told me that was exactly the reaction he was looking for! someone who wasn't just out for someone to go out with and pay for everything. Well, I did pay for our dinner and we ended up having a nice time after that. We both agreed that online personals were a sad and pathetic way of meeting people. Now, if only there wasn't the soda through my nose incident that happened later that evening...

Well back in the days of highschool around here we used to cruise the ave as we woul call it. We just drove around town, parked here and there in certain parking lots and tried to pick up guys. Well I met who technically is my ex but now just a really really good friend there and well while we didn't last long bc he was dating 2 other of my friends at the same time (don't ask) he did introduce me to my HTB (husband to be, or how you like to call it on the boards DF). He didn't introduce us with any intentions we were just at the same place at the same time. Well I wanted nothing to do with the kid. After all the was friends with the guy that dated me and 2 of my other friends at the same time. I didn't want to deal with that again. Well anyway...my friend April became very close to DF like a brother sister kind of thing and she some how convinced me that he wasn't so bad. Well we kind of made a deal that I would give DF a chance if she gave this one guy that I knew a chance. Ya well the deal worked out better for me. We are engaged for a few months now but not planning a wedding till December 2010. I have to finish school first!

You'll find someone when you don't want to. I did!

I met my DF while we were on the College Program. He lived in the apartment building next to mine. One of my roommates and I ventured out to meet people and we met him and his roommates. I didn't want to date anyone while I was down there but apparently I didn't live up to that.

I met my DH in 7th grade. We started dating in 11th grade. Got engaged a year after we were out of college, and married just over a year after that.

Thanks Jul!

Yeah I had been on eharmony AWHILE - like more then a year I believe. And not all the matches were all that great for me. Same thing for my DF. But eventually they got us right I guess!

That questionaire is a backbreaker it's so long but obviously I feel like it was worth it in the end! All I can say is give as many people a chance as possible within reason. My DF messaged me and it took me a few days to reply cause I wasn't sure if I wanted to. But I'm soooooo glad I did! I'm all for the internet dating thing - hey my brother met his wife online through a different site!

Hello :) I'm not sure I'm ready to take that next step. I haven't paid, so I can't see photos at the moment, darnit! There seems to be a couple interesting guys. I just don't know if I'm daring enough to do it. I've gone on blind dates before, they were all pretty awful!,ahaha I still haven't warmed to online dating, despite knowing several people who have been very successful. I guess patience is key. Sounds like you finally met your prince charming, all the best to you and your prince ;)

I met mine in a club in Birmingham, UK, when I sat on him by accident! The club was dark, Tim was wearing dark clothes and sitting on a black settee. I didn't see him, sat down, and wondered why the cushions moved!

We have no idea when we met but we think it was about 10 years ago. We know it was a bank holiday but again, no idea which one. I seem to remember it being cold, he remembers it being hot!

1 week later he moved in with me and (approx) 10 years later we are getting married!
