Where did you eat in Vancouver?

Now I need to add the Boathouse, the Cactus Cafe, every food stall on Granville Island....I love bakeries and ice cream. Pasta sounds good, too. I've got to stop reading this thread when it's too late for a snack.

We had the best salmon burger ever at Granville Island. Yum!

There's also a family-run doughnut place where you can watch the guy make them by hand. That was fascinating.

We ate in the Spagetti Factory this evening.....wasn't planning on it after reading some of the previous posts but we'd been walking around Canada Place and Gastown and while it looked like there were lots of interesting places to eat, that seemed to be the most kid friendly.... With 2 jet lagged kids getting grumpier by the minute we just went for it.....they loved it. You can't go wrong with Spagetti and meatballs and ice cream. For us the food was just alright.....service was great even though the place was packed and the poor wait staff were rushed off their feet but the food was typical of a chain restaurant. Great place for kids and very reasonable but not exactly a culinary delight!


A beautiful balmy evening in Vancouver and we sail in 3 days!

Our favorite place for gelato in Vancouver BC is La Casa Gelato. 218 flavors! Link.

I am from Vancouver I'd go with White Spot over Red Robins, because White Spot is a local fave, it started here in Vancouver and has spread slightly across western Canada. Great burgers.

I would skip the Spaghetti Factory. Food is not great, although it is definitely kid friendly.

Granville Island has the Sandbar restaurant, excellent seafood/fresh fish.

Lots of excellent Chinese and other Asian food in Vancouver as well. Anything in particular that you like?

We hit White Spot 2 mornings for breakfast, and once for lunch. It's really good! We also went to Old Spaghetti Factory, which was fabulous! Our last night there, we went to Elephant and Castle Pub (which has a kid's menu), and EVERYONE really enjoyed their meals. Those are the ones that stick out in my head. Enjoy fooding around Vancouver!

I know someone said they didn't like Kirin, but it is one of the best Chinese restaurants in town. Service may not be great, but I don't go to Chinese restaurants for the service, I go for the food! Good dim sum there too.

As for Mexican, there isn't a ton of Mexican food that I know of downtown. A couple of places - Pepitas on Burrard, La Casita in Gastown, but I've never tried them!

Italian .... well, I love Al Porto although it is maybe a bit more high end. I've heard that the Italian Kitchen (on Alberni) is fairly yummy as well and I don't think it is too high end.

Anyone like steak? I always like the Keg

For pizza, I like the Flying Wedge, but it's more of a counter service take out type place.

I like Guu, I've never been there with kids, but it is a neat dining experience. I'm sure you know but it's an Izakaya which means they serve Japanese tapas type dishes as opposed to just sushi type dishes.

There is a White Spot on Georgia and Seymour, and one closer to Stanley Park. I think the one on Georgia and Seymour would be closer to the Fairmont Pacific Rim. I like walking through downtown so I would say yes, walking distance

As for Beavertails, I was craving one myself recently! But I do not know of anywhere to get one other than the PNE (our summer fair.)

I *think* the closest one is probably in the food court at the Pacific Centre Mall, much of which is contained at ground or underground level and you can access the mall from various streets, including Georgia, Robson, Howe St.

There is also one on Denman, closer to the beach, but I think that is farther from the Pan Pacific.

They sell Bevertails at Lonsdale Quay Market. I also recall seeing them at a kiosk on GRouse mountain but that was years ago. I haven't been there since so I don't know if it is still there.
