No, this isn't what you think. I thought it'd be fun to share where we came from in terms of our involvement on the DIS. What brought you here? What boards do you frequent the most? What's your favorite part about the DIS? :disrocks:

I Googled something about disabilities and Disney - because I was planning a wish trip for Lauren and needed that information. The DIS was a wealth of information.

The DIS ladies that are part of The Big Give sent Lauren custom made clothes, shirts, etc, etc before her trip - it was amazing what "strangers" did for her!

Mostly I stay on the Wish Trippers thread and focus on the Wish Trip reports.

I also went on a trip with 2 friends I met on the DIS in Sept 2010 and had a BLAST and we are writing that TR - so I hang out over there, too.

I check Theme Parks Board every day for any news or interesting threads and check over here, too.

The DIS had provided a platform that has enriched the lives of many people in the Make a Wish Trip Community - many families have been selected to be recipients of The Big Give (DISboutiquers do this).

We have also had one child get his wish to meet the Gingerbread Men because of the DIS.

And we had a child that got to meet a real steam train engineer and his family opened the park that morning. This was because someone met them on the DIS and set it up for them! That wish meant so much to this child and his family that his health has gotten better and right now he is in remission from his cancer!

Thank you guys for starting the DIS and doing such a great job promoting and maintaining it...I think it has done more for people that you can imagine.

I originally started out on the teen boards back in 2000-2001, didn't post too often, lurked mostly and then I forgot my username and password. I rejoined a few years later and mostly hung around the community board, again didn't post much and eventually forgot yet again my new username and password. In 2008 I rejoined yet again with a user name and password that I could remember and I started to post more often, It wasn't until 2009 though when I discovered the podcast and trip reports that I started to post more often. I got to go to PCC 2.0 and meet some people that I've talked to and I've learned so much. I guess 3rd time was a charm!

I came here when the boards first started looking for Disney information. We first visited WDW in 1993 and fell in love with it. Unfortunately, the Internet wasn't what it is today. Looking for Disney information wasn't really available until RADP came around, then the DIS around 1997/1998. I visited the DIS everyday to get my fix until our next trip. At the time we only travelled to WDW once or twice a year.

I normally visited the theme parks, resorts, and restaurants boards, then I started hitting the DVC boards once we bought points in 2004. Over the past 5 years I pretty much visit all of boards related to the theme parks and resorts including the Universal boards.

I can honestly say that. I purchased an iPhone in 2009 a few months after I switched from PC to Mac.

I started downloading apps and podcasts. At the same time, I found the DIS Unplugged, and I found an app called Couch to 5K (running).

Well, long story short, I lost 50 pounds and found a Disney community I never knew existed. I thought I was alone in my Disney passion for 25+ years.

My life hasn't been the same since. :)

What brought you here?

After a couple of trips, we wanted to really start researching our future trips. I started researching a surprise Birthday trip for my DW. About the same time, we discovered the Podcast and we were completely hooked!

What boards do you frequent the most?

Podcast Board, Photography Board, Rumors Board, Resorts Board, Theme Parks and Attractions board, and a Lego Land Board, if it gets started :rolleyes1

What's your favorite part about the DIS? :disrocks:

The Friendships and the knowledge!

I started out on the cruise boards (meet thread) before our 2008 cruise, then moved over to the WDW meets thread before our summer 2009 trip. I started listening to the podcast while planning for that trip.

Currently I hang out here and try to spend as much time as I can on the Disneyland boards.

Well, I come from the Disneyland Resort boards. :) I came to Dis when I was getting ready for a trip to Disneyland- the first after several years. I had grown up going to DLR, but thought there must be more I can learn about it so I googled Disneyland tips and found the DLR boards.

However, I wanted something Disney to listen to and I found this podcast. Even though I have never been to WDW I started listening and then wandered over to this board. So, I'm mainly on the DLR boards and this one. Sometimes I lurk on the other WDW boards hoping I can soak in enough WDW info for our tentative trip in 2014. What a difference from DLR! I have a lot to learn!

I bought an iPod (80g - what is now called a "classic") on August 24, 2007. We already had room only reservations at the Contemporary and I was already searching the disboards for information (note the join date - which is the same month I made the reservations).

I hadn't spent much time on the boards then, but when I bought the iPod I subscribed to all of the Disney related podcasts. I didn't know what a podcast was at the time. (When I first listened to the DIS Unplugged, I kept wondering, why do they let that inarticulate person from Massachusetts keep talking? Then I realized that this was the way I would talk if I did a podcast and I had a new hero.) We had been to WDW several times and I was looking to get more out of the visits.

I'm looking for a "Disney is my mid-life crisis board."

I found my way here in 2007 through Google, looking up different things such as rental houses in Orlando, restaurants, and tips for Disney with toddlers. It seemed like everything I was looking into led me to the DIS! I spent endless days and nights combing through the boards and was amazed at all of the things I did not know about taking a trip in Disney World. :worship:
Usually I read all new posts, so I can't really say which I read the most.

I was planning a 40th birthday/10th anniversary trip for my husband and I in 2009. We had a great time and I feel in love with Disney World; it was the first trip for both of us.
I bought an iPod around the same time. While searching for planning tips I came across the boards and discovered the Podcast. I listened to 4 or 5 different Disney podcasts for about 6 months but when my trip was done this is the only one I kept listening to.
Now I frequent the Unplugged board all the time (more of a lurker) and on occasion the other ones, with Budget Board being #2.

I love the information, the friendship, the humor-- I can't name just one thing :lovestruc

I was looking for information about a Disney wedding when i found the dis. There wasn't, and still isnt, a lot of info on disney's site about weddings, so this site was invaluable to me! It literally saved me thousands of dollars on my dream wedding and made it amazing.

When I joined I'd been to Disney world too many times to count already and thought I knew everything there was to know about the parks, i just needed wedding info. Of course i was wrong! I've learned so much on these boards and it really feels like home :hippie:

Oh, and when I started out 6 years ago, I mostly stuck to the weddings board, but now I find myself on this one, the budget and family boards and the dvc area. I also visit the theme parks board but I don't post much there.

I came while doing research for a Christmas trip. I like to look at all the post on different topic. Some are just fun to read. I like the trip reports, and the wish trips, and love the live reports.

My wife and I honeymooned at DisneyWorld in June 2008. It was the first trip either of us had made. It was actually a pretty last minute decision to go (we had some other not so exciting plans - but we realized we had a little more money to make a trip than we thought). Mainly, I used the DIS for dining information - and that was about it. I guess I didn't realize that there was a whole community here. After our honeymoon, I didn't give it much more thought, until New Years day 2009. I was laying in bed and all of a sudden I had this strong desire to be at DisneyWorld. I looked over at my wife and said we should go again this year...and about 10 minutes later we were booked. We had significantly more planning time than before so I started spending a lot of time on the site just doing research. Then I found the podcast....life has never been the same since.

I frequent the DIS Unplugged board, and lurk alot around the restaruants board and the trip reports.

My favorite thing about the DIS is that with a compilation of everyone's knowledge and experience I take a virtual DAILY trip to WDW.

I founf the DIS when I was planning a trip in 2004. I lurked for a while, then started asking questions and posting. 7 years later, I don't think I could ever leave- I love these boards (and podcast)!

I frequent the DIS Unplugged, Theme Parks Attractions and Planning, and Community boards the most. I look in on Budget, Orlando, Rumors, and Disney Movies boards occasionally.

My favorite part of the DIS? I love all the cool things I have learned about over the years. Also learning how to better tour the World and how to save $$ while doing it. I also love the Podcast and consider Pete, Kevin, and everyone else my "friends" who give me my Disney fix every week.

After a trip with my girls in 2007 (it had been 8 years since the last trip) we went shopping and ran into a lady wearing a Disney jacket...we got to talking and I said that we decided to go back the next year...she told me about a couple of web sites to look at for discounts....that's when i found the DIS....then I started listening to the Pod Cast....been here ever since.

I visit this board almost every day, I also like the Theme Parks, Transportation and Cruise Forums.

What keeps me here, is that I feel like I've made some friends (even though I haven't met many of them) and I find the information that I get here is great!! I feel like this is 'Home'

Hello fellow VA beacher! haha My dad loves the podcast and we listen to it on road trips and stuff so naturally I joined the DIS family :cool1:

Back in '98, I started planning a once-in-a-lifetime trip to WDW for my two kids and me, plus my dad, his wife, and her grandson. I bought a planning book by Rita Aero and there was a link to her Disney website. I first went there, and a person on that board (Ahnalira) sent out an invitation to come to a new board on the DIS called the Inspiration Board. At that time I was on that board and another Disneyland board, but once I came to the DIS I was drawn here more and more until I just stayed here.

At that time the whole DIS was kind of like the Podcast board, where just about everyone knew each other. I learned a lot about WDW and made friends in the meantime.

I became a moderator of the Disneyland Board in 2000, and mainly hang out in that corner of the DIS (mostly lurking and moderating, and occasionally joining in the conversations). I also come to the Podcast board a lot and the Community Board.

I love the DIS for the information, camaraderie, and the friends I have made and will make. I've learned so much, Disney and non-Disney, here, and I've made several online and real friends.

I was planning a trip in 2003 and a friend suggested I look into renting DVC points and directed me to this site for that. I was already a Disney nut and it's all downhill from there - haha. I never did rent DVC points but I did use it as a planning tool (and continue to do so).

I frequent the Unplugged board, Attractions board and ... visit the others occasionally. Anything for a Disney fix!
