Its getting time to start planning the baby's room and we are looking at cribs. Let me say I live in a very small town where the only place that sells them is Wal-Mart. At Wal-Mart they are very reasonable but is the quality any good?

There is also the Pennys catalog here. I've looked on ebay and some are gorgeous and reasonable even with shipping.

Where did you buy yours? How much did you pay?

Thanks!!

Our crib was a gift from DH's aunt 5 years ago. She bought it at Babies R Us for about $500. My father bought our cradle also 5 years ago from a local baby store. I'm guessing it was about $100-$125.

These two websites have either free or very cheap flat rate shipping http://www.dreamtimebaby.com/ http://www.babyage.com/ . I've bought a couple of strollers from them with no problems

We bought all of our baby gear at Babies R Us and it has held up well for 2 years. :)

We bought our crib at Toys 'R Us for around $100. It is a Jenny Lind style crib and it is on its 2nd occupant and it still looks really nice. I really liked some of those really expensive cribs but I looking back I am glad I didn't spend a fortune on the actual crib. We did buy a nice mattress for the crib instead...I figured that was more important. :)

We got ours at Babies R Us- it was 900ish for the crib and dresser. We may go back for the hutch in a few months. I Love it!

I got most of them as hand me downs from good friends. Really good for the budget especially considering you only use them a very short time. I picked up the stuff I had to have new (a car seat, etc.) at TRU on sale. They seem to have babysales 2 times a year.

We got ours at a local children's furniture store. It was a Pali brand and cost around $250 I think. It also converted into a toddler bed which DD used for a little while. All told we got about 2 years worth of use out of it.

I'm guessing your DD will be about a year old when you bring her home. You will probably be able to keep her in the crib until 2 1/2-3 years because she will be smaller than American children. With all that information I wouldn't spend too much on a crib. I'd earmark more for a regular bed when she's ready for it.

You must be getting so excited. Has your dossier gone to China? What kind of a wait are they telling you? We waited about 9 months from the time our paperwork got to China until I held our DD in my arms. I'm so happy for you.

My DD has the JL crib from Toys r us also..... On a recommendation though we got the best mattress they sold....

My DD used the crib and then my boss's unexpected adopted daughter used the crib too....

They have a matching changing table for it too.....

I bought my crib and armoire from KMart believe it or not. The crib was about 119 and the armoire was about 179. You can order it online as well.

I got our crib and a changing table top dresser at J C Penney. They are a low-end name furniture brand -- can't think of it at the moment. Not Broyhill, but in that price/quality range. They were $150-$200 each, which seemed like a lot 22 years ago!

All three of my children use both pieces of furniture and my 11-year-old's clothes are in the dresser today. I replaced changing table top each time and also bought a new mattress for the third child.

We never used a cradle but used a portable bassinet for all three. I bought things like strollers and carseats at Toys R Us for the most part.

Babies R Us. Besides a few teeth marks the crib still looks brand new. We also bought a matching dresser that is also a changing table. It has held up really well. :)

My Sister bought hers through Penney's and it held up well through 2 kids. :)

My parents bought my children's crib and changing table at Sears. The furniture, a beech color, held up well through two kids and we easily sold them to another couple at a yard sale. I'm not sure how much they cost, but I would guess on the VERY reasonable side. We also bought a bassinette for our DS, which he was able to sleep in for about a month before he outgrew it, and DD absolutely hated it. That was a big waste of $80 at Babies R Us...however, we also were able to sell it at our yard sale since it was practically new...but of course, not for $80.

Thanks everyone!!

I am "guessing" she will be anywhere from 8-15 months. On the Message Boards I go to a good percentage of the babies have been 9.5-10 months.

Our Dossier is ready to go we are just waiting on our 171 to come back from immigration. Our social worker says things right now are moving faster than they have in years (Yay!) Of course you never know but she is thinking about 5 months from the time the Dossier is logged in so around May.

I can't wait!!!!!

Hand me down of a hand me down of a hand me down. It worked perfectly and didn't cost a dime. :)

We got the Monterey Sleigh Crib from Babies R Us for $169. It converts to a toddler bed and then a day bed so it will last us for a while. It was very easy to assemble, and very easy to adjust the height as DS got bigger (and big enough to stand up in it!). You can order it online or get it from the store.

My aunt bought our first crib for us and then we bought our son's crib at a specialty children's furniture store and we spent WAYYYY too much on it. It becomes a toddler bed and then a double headboard and footboard though so I figured it was worth it. ;)

We bought the armor and changing table from Babies R Us, but it was so expensive that I would never do it again. I was just at Target and saw a great set for just as great price. Wish they had sold baby furniture when we were looking. The crib we bought from a friend-cheap. I have seen sets from K-mart which are nice as well and very affordable. Burlington Coat Factory carries baby furniture too, but is a bit pricy.
