I've been a lurker here for a while, but we're going for 7 days and nights in a little over a month, doing almost the same trip that you went on. CSR, QSDP, etc. It looks like our interests are very similar - I love the comment on Robama - lol... This is our first *real* family vacation. My wife and I have a LOT of family in FL so every trip usually turns into an ad hoc family reunion with a day at Disney thrown in wherever it fits. This trip is 100% Disney with a few days with family tacked onto the end. :)

As this is our first stay on Disney property, I have a few questions for you.

1) How do you do the Disney Dining Plan? I mean, I get that it's tied to the KTTW card, but how do you use it? Do you have to know what you're ordering, then order it and then give them the card, or do you hand them the card first and they can help you. As a fellow geek, I tend to get hung up on details...

2) You mentioned that you didn't have to pay for parking. I know about the busses and trams, but how does the not paying for parking work?

Thank you for your time! I really appreciate any help you can give me. :)

Wow I got your first Post!!! I'm honored. Hope you have a blast.

1] Well first every meal consists of:
-An Entree (which typically includes a side...I usually got Apples...a man can only consume so many fries.)
-A Drink.
-A Desert...(If available I usually got cookies...they keep...seldom did I eat my desert...needed room for Dole Whip and Pineapple bars.)

If your kids are 9 and under I recommend ordering first then handing over the key and say Dining Plan...as I found out late in my trip...you don't have to get your kids a kids meal...and Tiny is a big boy and could eat 2 of those kids meals sometimes. When we started getting him the regualr meals...he was so much happier...he loved the Philly Cheese Steak at the Pepper Market. While the literature says to order from the Kids Menu...it's not required and all Meal credits are pooled together. I had 88 Meal Credits...and all could have been used on the 13.95 Lunch/Dinner entrees at the Pepper Market...add a drink and desert...do the math...the QSDP is a steal!!! Well considering you are paying inflated prices for food at the resort. It's nice to know money for food will not be a problem at the start of your vactaion.

Note: at the Pepper Market (CSR)...you get the same things and the food here is better than you'll see at most Park Counter service...plus you don't pay until you ar done eating. As a side note...for breakfast at the Pepper Market you get 2 Drinks and an Entree...as breakfast entrees here usually come with a muffin...so they give you a 2nd Drink instead of a desert.

2] Free Parking...when you check in you will get a parking pass to put in your front window somewhere...you can see it reflecting in this picture...
IMG_0362.jpg

I put it on the Passenger side so the reflection wouldn't distract me that much...when you drive up to the park entrance...put the toll booth on the side of the vechicle where you have the pass displayed and they will just wave you on through. :thumbsup2

I hope that answers your questions...if it doesn't then ask again...or PM me...have a great time!!! :woohoo:

Since this is off topic, I'm going to PM.

Thank you for your help!

EDIT:

Well... Once I get to ten posts...

So we head over to Tomorrowland...one really good thing about the mosoon that happened was that people were wet and left the park...Tomorrow land was pretty much vacant. first order was to get Buzz Fast Passes.

Then we did the Laughing Floor...I thought sure one of us would be pegged as "That Guy" with our bright shirts and all...but alas some older fella that didn't seem to appreciate the humor of being "That Guy" was that guy.

That's my new goal in life now...to be "That Guy" in the Monster Inc. Laughing Floor show. :lmao:

From there we went to do Stitch...I'm a huge Stitch fan...but everything they seem to do with im in the parks stinks. I like the Stitch animatrinics altright...but sitting in the Dark waiting for Stitch to burp a Hot Dog in your face...not really a great attraction. Sorry Stitch your deserve better.

From there we saw Buzz Lightyear (the Character not the Ride) with a very short line...We were up 2nd to the next to see him...and Buzz had to go recharge his batteries and we see Stitch coming out...so we get over there First...BTW I think this is the only shot of the back of our Shirts...It has Mickey in his conductors Tux...and Donald's butt.

Stitch liked Tiny's shirt...

Then back over to see Buzz...Mel had saved our spot.
IMG_0426.jpg

Then we get in the Carosel of Progress...I like this Ride...according to Jack...our AKL Tour guide...this is the only ride still owned by the Disney Family. I like this great big beautiful ride...I always go to sleep. :cloud9: Not that it's boring...I just fall asleep. HM's theres a Mickey Nut cracker in the last scene...also a stuffed Mickey under the tree.

From here were head back to Fantasy land...Peter Pan and Pooh are still jammed...but we pretty much ride everything else...including "...its a small WAR."

Liberty Square was experiencing power issues so theHaunted Mansion and the HoP were down.

We cut thru the Fronterland/Adventureland crossover to get us a Dole Whip or 12. Must have been on a Pineapple high cause the rest of the day is a blur. I know we did the Parade and Wishes again...and dispite the clouds we actually saw the fireworks tonight...

EMH's we did BTM and Splash...and PotC...we leave around midnight.

Sorry for lack of detail...but my memory is getting fuzzy being 2 Months + removed...only the highlights are coming out now.

great update nate!!! how long do you keep your parking pass in your window?and yes, for some reason the line was short at its a small war on thursday!

Parking pass it still there. :lmao:
Actually it's not...Mel took it out once we headed home. :guilty:

Ummm, you might want to check the back of your Man Card before making a comment such as this...:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:
:headache:

Really though...I'm just not a fan of WDW fries.

Hi Nate,
It's good to be back on the dis. Your report is the first I've read since my 3 week hiatus from the boards. I have been back from my trip for a week already but, you know what "they" say about work getting in the way. Also ended up leaving early for FL due to a death in the family. I'm thankfull it all worked out for us.

Have enjoyed you updates. We loved doing the CM breakfast. And I mean my husband and myself when I way "we". Sure the 5 year old got a kick out of it too. :rotfl::rotfl: I'm another fan of MGM. We did all of the parks on this trip and I most enjoyed MK and MGM. We did the MNSSHP at the MK and LOVED IT. My almost 60yr old dh can't believe he was trick-or-treating. The parade and fireworks were the best. We'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Thanks again for entertaining us with your report. Look forward to the rest of the story.

Did you eat at The Plaza? They have the best fries in our opinion in all of Disney.
Nope...I'll have to remember that.

I hear ya...partial to Micky D's my own self...:rotfl:
I like Wendy's and dip them in a Frosty.

But my favorites are the ones at Fuddruckers. I shake on a little extra "Spud Spice" and dip them in the Cheese sauce.

I'm glad your back...hope your trip was awesome!:thumbsup2

I'm finally all caught up now!!!!

I don't remember the name but when we were at WDW in March the gift shop on the upper level of the GF had quite a few items that we didn't see anywhere else..... including the spanish monorail shirt. Smart move dropping off your purchases to send back to the resort. Who wants to carry all that in the pouring rain?:confused3

I'm still here...been busy...missing a few pictures for my last 2 days...and can't seem to get them uploaded here at work...

We thought you left the ship! Glad to hear you'll be back with the rest of the report.

OK...so I've been away for a while...been busy...and in these times that's a good thing to have job to be busy at...have an aggressive product schedule ahead of me this Fiscal Year.

Also working a 2nd Job on the weekends...takes allot out of you...showed every bit of 40 years. The Corn Maze had a good year...could have been a record setter had the weather cooperated...I think in October we had something like 23 days of rain in North East Tennessee...had Boy Scout Troops out the wazoo...Should have enough Money to have an excellent Christmas and pay off that Credit Card Bill...again.

Lets not forget Fantasy Football Season. out of 3 Teams I've only given up hope on one...with a 3-5 Record and only 3 week left in this leagues regular season...I think I'm out of even a remote shot of making the 20 team cut out of 60. My other 2 teams are doing OK...one is in a similar format league as the previous...I'm 5-3...in a 3 way tie for 2nd in my Division...should make the final 20 team cut. The last team...has a different format and it 12 teams...top 6 make the playoffs...top 2 get a bye...2 way tie for 2nd here in my division...If I can win 2 out of the next 3 weeks then I'm in.

Day 10...We slept in later than usual...Mousekeeping actually woke us up to see if we were actually still in the room. :lmao:

We got dressed and went to the Pepper Market for a Breakfast/Lunch...then one to the MK. Mel wanted to go back top the Contemp Gift Shop again...We get to MK right around 3pm...and we get to see the "Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade" First for us...we usually skip the Afternoon Parade...catchy tune to this one...got stuck in my head for a Month or 2.

Here are some Pics of that.

My Favorite...Hidden Walt!
IMG_0473.jpg

From there...the Family of course have to go thru the Emporium.

I sneek over to Fantasyland...and actually manage to snag Peter Pan FP's...and I meet back outside the Emporium and we hit Tomorrowland for some Buzz. Don't remember if I posted this Hidden Mickey before.
IMG_0420.jpg

From there we hit the Carosel of Progress...again...I take a nap...again.

Don't remeber the name of that snack place right next to the Astro Orbiter...but those Cream Cheese filled Pretzels were Awsome... :thumbsup2

Boy and I go and ride the Carts at the Tomorrowland Speedway...then we hit Fantasyland...Us manly men try to pul the Sword from the stone...check out mine and Boy's Tie-dyes from 2 years ago (Tiny out grew his).

Disney338.jpg

Alas we are not Kings. :sad2:

Then we do Philharmagic a few times...then "...it's a small world" for Mel...then onto the Haunted Mansion...

After the Haunted Mansion we go to the Outpost and get some of those Chicken Ranch Sandwiches...and eat inside Peco's...I go get some FP's for Big Thunder Mountian....then we head to ride PotC. We ride it twice...then hit the Tiki Room one more time...the line isn't bad for Alladin either so we ride it too.

DOLE WHIP TIME...we each have a Pinapple Float or 2. :thumbsup2

It is now time for the 9pm Parade...so we make our way back to our Spot in front of the Firehall...Mel had the joke of the trip during this parade...after the Dwarfs pasts by we noticed that a parade director was walking Sleepy or Bashful back to the gates as his costume had quit lighting up. Mel said "Guess he had a 'short'." :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

We then go stake out a spot for Wishes...and Mel goes to the shops on the other side of Main Street...while me and the Boy's hold our spots.

I really just can't get enough of Wishes. Love the Fireworks. :goodvibes Knowing I probably won't see this show for sometime now I just really soak up some Magic. :goodvibes

After this we head to BTM...Mel has had enough and says she will meet us in front of the Firehall when we are done. So we hit BTM...and then PotC on the way back. Wow we are leaving before the Park closes.

Back to the CSR...Showers and early bed time. :cloud9:

Hey...good to hear from you again!

By the way, I really like your youngest son's shirt from this day. Where's that from? Animal Kingdom?
