The sun came out early Tuesday, and so did I. After another quick shower, I was out the door and in the food court with my mug. But this time I also bought some food, beignets! You could have found me back in our room by following the trail of powdered sugar. They're delicious but very messy.
This time I woke DW and offered her some beignets. She wasn't sure about them. They're not as good when they cool down. Everybody up and at 'em and covered in sunscreen, we left for the Animal Kingdom.
AAA Diamond Parking was not as close to the front gate as at MK. But at least it was close enough that we didn't need to use the Tram.
We rolled on through the front gate and past all the people stopping to look at things and taking pictures. We were on a mission. Get to the Safari. We spent about 3 hours in AK last year because it was so hot, and my DW was 5 months pregnant. We didn't do anything but the two shows, Tarzan and Lion King, and let Knucklehead play in the Dinosaur Bones play area while we melted. This year I was determined to ride that Safari.
We got our Fast Passes and strolled down the trail to look at the animals in what they insist is not a zoo. Our time comes and we get on the Safari. It almost looked as if the animals were hiding from the loud safari vehicles. Look, there's more vultures! Those were the only animals there by choice. The whole poacher thing just didn't do it for me. I believe they need to re-think that ride. Maybe run the tracks from the train over there and allow more people to view the animals at a more leisurely, quieter pace. Despite what I thought about it, Knucklehead enjoyed it. And that's what it's all about, right?

So, with that accomplished, we head over to the Train to Rafiki's Planet Watch. After Knucklehead got Stanley's autograph, we had seen everything we wanted to see, we go back to the Train. As I walk up, the CM there says to me, "Stay still, you have a 'B' on your hat." He got me, because I'm not too fond of buzzing flying stinging things. I was ready to run, until I realized he was referring to my Boston Red Sox hat. There seemed to be a lot of fans there last week. We're not fans because we live anywhere near there (not there's anything wrong with that), but because we know (in a round about way) one of the players. And once he gets well, they'll be unstoppable.
So we travel back to downtown somewhere in Africa and get lunch at Tusker House. Great food, reasonable price. We did 2 of the meal deal vouchers tht included 1 entree and drink, 1 popcorn or ice-cream, and 1 20 ounce bottled soda or bottled water. We saved some money. The meals alone would have cost almost as much as the deal, and we almost always get popcorn at some point of the day.
After lunch we got Fast Passes for the Kali River Rapids. As Knucklehead and I were taking off for the animal trail in Asia, DW sat down to feed Bo Bo. When we returned, Bo Bo and DW were not doing well. Did I mention Bo Bo was not feeling well?
So DW takes one for the team and decides to take Bo Bo back to the room.
That leaves Knucklehead and I to do whatever we want. We say our long good-byes. "Parting is such sweet sorrow." Kali River Rapids here we come! We got on with a family that didn't speak Engilish and what looked like a Grandmother and her Grand-daughter, but who can tell these days. As we're heading towards the big drop, Knucklehead and I are going backwards. I had read that this was not a good thing unless you wanted to get soaked. The others in the raft seemed to know this too and were giving us that simpathetic look. But to our surprise, and more so for Grandma, the raft did a 180 before going down. When we hit, a wall of water came over the raft and landed in the Grandma's lap and about drowned the little girl. Knucklehead and I were almost completely dry. We must be living right. Ha!
We walked by the construction site of the new rollercoaster and headed for DinoLand. Knucklehead played in the Boneyard for a while and then appeared holding his britches saying, "I've got to go to the bathroom."
We exit the Boneyard and I ask the first CM I see, "Where's the closest restroom?"
It seemed like an easy question to answer for me, but she needed clarification. "Where are you headed?" she actually asks. It's almost as good a question as "From here?"
I try to be nice, but my wife always gets on me saying I sound pretty harsh when I reply things like, "We're headed to the nearest restroom if you can tell us where that is."
Luckily, she could. And we were able to take care of business in one of those private "Companion" restrooms. Nice.
I have been wanting to see It's Tough To Be a Bug ever since it first came out. Unfortunately, Knucklehead did not share my enthusiasm. But I kind of coralled him over there.
If you haven't noticed, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Mmm. Beignets. I had some of those when I was at the POFQ a few weeks ago. Very yummy! What a way to start a day! Sounds like you had a good day that day, too :) Thanks for posting!
