There was a recent thread about where you cannot wear a hat at WDW.I am still not clear about where you CAN wear a hat at WDW.Can you wear a hat on the Disney buses,on the Friendship Taxis,in the resort food courts,in the resort check-in areas,in indoor attractions like Spaceship Earth,in merchandise shops,etc. or are ALL indoor areas at WDW off-limits for hats?Thanks.

um, I have worn a hat in and on everything in WDW. In fact yesterday was a "say something" hat day. Did you wear your "say something" hat?

Where did you hear that you CAN'T wear a hat??

My DH wears a hat all day/every day at WDW....literally, even in the pools.

His head is starting to bald & he doesn't want to get sunburned..although that's not what he tells the kids!!:rotfl:

Wow, hope they don't really outlaw hats. Can you imagine all that crazy Disney hat hair if you have to take off your hat every time you walk inside?

I can see it now...thousands of hot, tired, disney tourists with their crocs, baggallinis and squished down hair. Perfectly delish! :rotfl2:

I'm not sure which thread you read but my husband and I wear a ball cap just about everywhere at Disney World. *I* do tend to take it off when I'm in air conditioned attractions because it gives my head a chance to breathe. My husband keeps his on.

Some people don't like to wear hats on thrill rides for fear they will fall off. But you can if you want.

And then there is the age old debate on what is "appropriate" when dining in a restaurant. For that, just to be on the safe side, have all members of your party remove their hats. Then you won't "offend" anyone.

I would say to remove your hat while dining at at indoor restaurant (table service or counter service and that's to be on the safe side), while any national anthem is being played, and when you feel like it.

I put my hat on when leaving my resort in the AM, generally don't remove except maybe in a restaurant, the late afternoon Flag Retreat in MK, and maybe in the evening, maybe.

Thanks for the replies!:)I always wear a hat a lot when I am at WDW but I was worried after reading that other thread that I was missing something about where you were supposed to wear a hat and that I was going to feel self-conscious about wearing a hat ANYWHERE indoors at WDW.:)I feel MUCH better now!:)

Actually I posted on that thread. The question was if it was sexist that woman can wear hats in restaurants, etc. when men shouldn't. Apparently, only classless, raised by animals kind of men wear their hats indoors, ever (at least according to the people who were on that thread). They thought there was no reason, ever for a man to wear a hat indoors, even if it was at Disney. I think it turned ugly because it seemed people on the thread have in the past, and were continuing to, trash the OP and her finance. IMHO, it's Disney -- wear a hat if you want to. I know I will be, and as I said in that other thread, I'm not about to get sweaty, nasty hat head and then take my hat off because I might be perceived as rude. Apparently I'm part of the classless, trashy people! :rotfl:

Ummm, you're not allowed to wear one on Soarin'. They will tell you to take it off. Watch the pre-loading video guys, where the 'guest' stores his 'ears' in the under the seat conpartment. ;)

the only situations DH ever had to remove his baseball cap was in narcoosees for dinner, and on any roller coast upside down type rides (like RnRC)

Indoors, a man should always remove his hat, (particularly in a home, church, courtroom or restaurant) except:
(1) in some public buildings or public places such as railroad stations or post offices;
(2) in the main parlor area of a saloon or general store;
(3) or while seated at the "lunch counter" of a diner or cafe;
(4) in entrance halls and corridors of office buildings, or hotels;
(5) in elevators of public or office buildings, unless a woman is present;
(6) if carrying packages, parcels or bags and both hands are occupied upon entry.
(7) If the man is an actor or performer and the hat is being worn as a part of a costume or performance.

If in doubt, it is best for a gentleman to remove his hat indoors as soon as practical.
It is considered a sign of contempt and/or disrespect to leave your hat on when it would be proper to remove it.

You might not want to wear your hat at the 50's Prime Time cafe, your "server" might have a lot of fun with you if you do!

Says who??? Just curious. Is this out of an etiquette book from the 1800's? Who goes to a saloon these days?:confused3

I think it has also been stated that in some states it is illegal to wear a hat if:

1. your bear is not tied to the hitching post properly
2. chewing tobacco stains form the image of Mary on the front porch of the barbershop steps
3. your best friend's name is Gustave
4. the 59 Ford you drive has only one headlight and the horn blows Dixie
5. two of your kids are named Darrell

But I may be mistaken on number 5. It could be Larry.

Our kids are not allowed to wear hats in the house. DH removes his hat when he enters restaurants, people's homes, etc. He was military and I know they have rules about that, but my father in law is the same way, so he also learned it at home before he was in the Army.

However, if we have a guest and they wish to leave their hat on, we obviously would never hold it against them. Same goes for other people in restaurants, we don't think they are rude or anything because they leave their hats on. Not everyone considers it an issue and we are not the etiquette police for hats. :)

You are on vacation, for cripes sake. Wear a hat if you want. I cannot believe there was a huge debate about that. :confused3

We wear hats just about everywhere. We do take them off inside of restaurants, and on the faster rides, or at the water parks, but other than that... they stay on.

Haha, I actually agree with that poster though. In all the places they listed it applies, as well as to sunglasses, although they get added places to remove them as well.
