Because of my past credit, I am unable to get a regular card with a limit that would allow me to purchase 4 plane tickets. I have the cash and would like to get the special deals over the internet but I need a credit card. Where do you get those propaid cards?

I don't know about the prepaid cards, however if you have a checking account, most banks offer a VISA or MC check card without having to have good credit. Usually it's with no charge, at our bank at least. And you can use it like any credit card as long as you have the money in your checking account.

My bank Charter One allows you to go in and buy a Mastercard gift card. You can put as much money as you want on it. And it is a charge card. Sometimes you can find these at different banks.

Simon Malls also sell gift cards that are Mastercards. I do not know what the limit is, but the malls near me will be running specials soon for cards over $250 (You get a free lift pass)

You Can get a prepaid credit card sort of from American Express it is sort of like using travelers checks but on a card so it is prepaid. I heard it is offered by AAA

When we went to WDW in May I purchased three VISA giftcards in the amount of $3000.00 each and paid for our trip, including
airfare. They were running a special at the time that a child aged 3-9 could go free if you used a VISA card. I bought them at AAA for $2.95 each and they were very convienient to use. I ended up purchasing one each DS14 and DD13. They both took it very serious and really thought out their purchases.

On the downside, I purchased a MasterCard at a local drugstore from a company called IGEN and it was a nightmare!! It cost $9.95 to activate and when I got home the card wasn't working right so I had to go back to the store 2x more along with countless calls to the company. This was the night before trying for an Illuminations Cruise!! It was a close one but we got it.

Try this WWW.mymccard.com , DH has used this before. He would rather not use the credit cards for anything other than paying for the rooms and/or airfare, so when we go away, we put all our "vacation cash" on this prepaid Master card. It's called Truth Master card, but it may be called something else in your area. You can check out the website as to where you can get this card. Hope this works for you, let me know.
