This is our family's preferred dining planOne member of your party must have an annual pass (you will get a voucher in the mail which you turn in at any Guest Relations at a Park). I take the AP voucher to our first day park and get a "real" AP PLUS a TIW card. If we had any prior eligible charges (which we will have at breakfast day 1), I can claim those later and the discount will be applied. Back to Guest Relations day 1--get your TIW card and then present it EACH & EVERY TIME you purchase food. That's right, even the random vendors...say, we have TIW and see if there is the 20% discount. We normally save around $400 with this, and don't have to "over eat" or face any limitations Love Love It.
Just a tip: If you can, try to get to the guest relations window at the International Gateway into Epcot in the morning. There is never a line there! At least not one I've seen .

TIW = Tables in Wonderland...it's a "club" you can pay to join if you are a Florida resident or annual passholder that gives you discounts at Disney restaurants. It used to be called DDE (Disney Dining Experience).
Unfortunately this is typical call center misinformation. The TiW card is printed on special card stock and it uses Tyvek cards and not plastic. The card printers at the resorts only use plastic cards.
