Between our Disney rewards cc points and gift cards saved up over the last year we figure we have enough to pay for all of our spending money for food, treats and souveniers. Is there any places in the park we cannot use gift cards at? Churros, dole whips, ect? Just trying to figure out how much cash I should still plan on needing in the parks.

Some carts and vendors are cash only. You may also find restaurants at DTD that don't accept Disney Gift Cards. If it's owned by Disney, you should be good. If you're staying at an on-site resort, you can charge most meals and merchandise purchases to your room, and use the gift cards to pay your charges when you check out.

Definitely ask first before you order at any of the DTD restaurants because my sons found out the hard way by sitting and ordering @ ESPN and discovered they DO NOT charge back to the onsite hotels!!!

I had to go down there @ 11:30 pm and bail them out!!

that was nice of you but another option would have been they just wash dishes that night. ;)

I thought about it as I walked/sprinted my way there BUT once I arrived..... a very loud public verbal lashing seem to do the trick!!! ;)

Lesson learned!!

Thanks! I figured most DTD wouldn't accept them. I forgot about charging to the room, that will be a lot easier than hauling a purse full of gift cards around. Any idea what stands won't take them? The three main things I'm concerned with is churros, dole whips and I can't remember if Gibson Girls take them, I don't believe they take APs, so it makes me wonder if they take gift cards.

The only Disney-owned places that won't take them are cash-only vendors. Things like balloon sales. And if they have on-foot food vendors like they have at WDW's Fantasmic! Everyone else, including food carts, is equipped to take cards.

If you're staying onsite, it's easier to just charge to the room and settle up at check-out with your GCs.

If you buy Disney GCs at office supply stores with your Chase Ink card, you'll get 10x Ultimate Rewards points. I always go to Disney with a fistful of Disney GCs.

All the places you list will take them. Carts for churros, popcorn, pretzels chimichanga, turkey leg etc. take them. They have some truly mobile carts that aren't always out (then tend to bring them out when its busier) that don't. These are usually ice cream and/or cotton candy carts.

As others have mentioned, the main places that don't are the walk around vendors like balloons etc that just take cash. The crystal shop on Main Street and I think one of the shops in NOS also don't accept them. But pretty much everywhere else in the parks does.

Thank you! That is exactly what I was hoping to hear. And thanks for the suggestions about charging to the room, too. I will definitely be doing that.

Add Ghirardelli's in DCA to the list of places that won't take Disney gift cards. Earl of Sandwich in DTD didn't either, but that didn't surprise me. Both places did offer an AP discount though. This was during our trip in September.

I like the charging to the room option but I also like paying with GCs because it's easier for me to keep track of how much money I have left :)
