Where can we get good ice-cream sundaes?

This thread is really making me feel nostalgic for the ice cream social. I wish they were still doing it. My family LOVED the sundaes there! When I went to Ghiradelli I was sooooo not impressed. $6.00 for a tiny sundae, (van ice cream,strawberries,whip and nuts). It was not even as good as a Friendly's sundae. Don't get me wrong, it was tasty...just nothing special. You basic run of the mill sundae.

I've always been a huge fan of Ghirardelli's. I've been to the original one in San Francisco a handful of times and loved it. I've also been to the one in DTD. It is really good! I love their chocolate too so in my book you can't go wrong with them. Thinking about it is making my mouth water.

We ordered a kid's one for our DD thinking it would be a lot smaller than the regular ones - but no - it was HUGE!!! DD couldn't finish it, so good ol' mom stepped up and polished it off! Well, I couldn't let all that wonderful ice cream go to waste, now could I?

wow, maybe some of you guys just don't have as much experience with ice cream as I have. Of course I thought the Dole whip was gross so I guess I am in the minority. I have a discriminating dessert palette.

Are you sure you went to Ghiradelli's? They have a lot more choices than that. It sounds like you ordered the wrong thing-a single scoop strawberry sundae, which is not the best deal. At Ghiradelli, it's all about the chocolate! They are a chocolate company, so that is their specialty. They have three different types of hot fudge, not to mention the other traditional toppings. For about a buck more, you could have had one of their two scoop specialty sundaes. I highly recommend the butterscotch hot fudge sundae with dark hot fudge.

I think Deb Wills menu is slightly out of date. Add cookie bottom sundae and Butterschotch Fudge, don't remember what else, but here's the menu from 9/2007 (sorry some of it isn't too readable)-

I saw someone carrying a sandpail full of a giant ice cream sundae at Blizzard Beach. I have no idea where it came from, and can't speak to the quality, but it looked hilarious (and good!).

I've had the very berry sundae, and the espresso escape sundae at Ghiradelli's. Both of them were wonderful. The next time I go I have to try the toffee interlude if it's still on the menu. I've had the candy bar, (of the same name,) and it is delicious.

During the holidays, Ghiradelli has a peppermint bark sundae that's also pretty awesome. That cookie bottom sundae is also very good.

Maybe I should have stuck with chocolate but I was craving strawberries in that Fl heat. Perhaps I will try it again and go with hot fudge since everyone keeps raving about it.

Ghirardelli's is definitely one of the best. However, if Ghirardelli's is too crowded and you don't want to wait, you can always walk down to the West side and go to Haagen Dazs. THey have pretty good sundae's too. I haven't tried Beaches and Cream yet, I'll have to hit it on my next visit.

The "Volcano" at Rainforest Cafe is great. The only downside is going to the
Rainforest Cafe.
