They are too old for BBB, but they are interested (primarily my 15 y/o princess, go figure!) in being 'fairy dusted' - with glitter or something … Any thoughts?

Thanks!

There is a boutique, coming from Mainstreet, walking through the castle, right behind, on the left side - opposite Sir Mickey. They have all kind of princesses stuff and have a CM that walks by with sort of a wand that "sprays" fairy dust .... Shimmering, sparkling, glittering golden.
My daughter loves it :):):)

I believe you can do that at the Harmony Barber shop. Not sure of the cost but I have a friend who has done it herself and she is definitely over the BBB age :)

Thanks, guys!! Why in the world my 15 year old is asking for this, now - after years of going - is beyond me … but, she is asking for it… so I'm going to find it!! :)

I hope you both have a great time - just remember to bring GOOD Shampoo and a good comb to get that stuff out! pixiedust:

We have had great luck both stopping at the BBB location at the castle for a quick dusting, and also at the store where the pictures for BBB are taken (to the left as you exit out of the castle headed towards fantasyland). If you prefer glitter that can be had at the barber shop at the front of the Magic Kingdom

Be aware ,the main street barber shop is big chunks of glitter, usually done with lots of gel. My CP chose not to do it because she was afraid the gel would itch when it dried. The fairy dust is more of what i would think of as hair and body glitter like you would use for a dance performance.

My 15 y/o begged to dine at Cinderella's Royal Table this trip. She's never cared to meet the princesses or had any interest in them at all on previous trips. She does musical theater and has been in a number of Disney shows now, which probably has something to do with it.

It's actually not at all uncommon for teens to suddenly love things that might seem a bit "young" - so glad you are embracing it! It won't last! You have a few options:
1.) The Harmony Barber shop - used to be you would just walk-in but now (unfortunately) they do take appointments. Girls and boys alike can get pretty funky hairdos (chunky glitter - wash and repeat and repeat and repeat to get it OUT, color stripes, even a temp mickey hair tattoo) - cheap! I've heard around 7 dollars?!?! Google for "Disney World Harmony Barber Girls Hairstyles" and you'll get pics.
2.) Resort Salons at Grand Floridian, Yacht Club and Coronado Springs offer real salon treatments (as in expert hair-styling, not the one-look-fits-all at BBB) including a princess package. Not sure how much they would charge you based on the girls ages, but you'll need a reservation so call and ask the Disney resort line.
3.) Buy a Kimono at Japan. Really. This was truly the most "Magical" but REAL experience we encountered. Now my daughter was considerably younger than 15...around 6 maybe? But it was authentic and I am woe to admit ... brought tears to my eyes. As you may or may not know Epcot is staffed with young people from each country - and they are beyond psyched to be there. As soon as I mentioned my daughter would like to pick out a kimono three sweet Japanese girls girls flitted around her like she was their own princess. They held up beautiful (far better quality than BB) garments for her and spoke directly to her - not me - asking her what she liked and checking her sizes. Once chosen all three girls surrounded her for what looked like a very ceremonial dressing, including the proper tying of the kimono bow - which was retied a few times as each girl critiqued the other - all in Japanese - to get it just right. They fussed over her so much, with much bowing and smiling when they were done - It was worlds above our still very nice experience at BBB and a unique opportunity to have such close contact with another culture. Pure magic.
*I think a little knowledge of Japanese culture would go a long way to enhance this for teens. The girls were just a few years older than yours.
4.) Want to be really cheap? Do it yourself! There are tons of tutorials on ways to copy Disney princess hair - you might need extensions for some - and whole lines of glitter make-up, glitter hairspray, body glitter you name it- and then revel in all the compliments throughout the day.

Then - give them a dinner at Akershus - it's never as booked as CRT and they will get TONS of attention if they are also dressed as princesses! Reuse of an old prom dress? :)

In fact - I've been dying to share this with other Disney girls because I don't think people know about these other ways to be "princessified"! I may have to post this somewhere parents of little girls will find it too!

Last Fall coming out of Ana and Elsa in the dump shop a CM came up and asked dd if she would like to be dusted or something, I missed the first part. But, she did a little magic saying and used her wand to sprinkle glitter dust over her. It was really sweet. My daughter was a teen, but loved it.

Was the magic saying "bippity boppity boo may all your dreams come true"? When I worked at Castle Couture years ago that's what we said. I had pixie dust every where in my apartment lol.
