Where can I purchase an appliance protection agreement?

My protection agreement with Sears on my front loading washer and dryer is about to expire. They are quoting me over $300. for a 2 year agreement. It seems kind of high to me. I did have to use it once on my washer so I really don't want to go without one. Any ideas? I did find one site online, but you had to purchase the agreement within 90 days of purchasing the appliance. I have had them about 2 years.

Hugs,
Crystal

if you paid with your disney visa ( and I think amex does it too ) they give you an extra 1 year warranty on anything you buy from them... you should call them and speak to their benefits department.. :thumbsup2

You are likely to spend more on service agreements than you will on repairs.

See what a new machine will cost. Compare that with the cost of a serivce contract. Skip the service contract. If something breaks and the repair will be expensive it is probably less expensive to buy a new appliance.

We had let our warranty expire on our washer and dryer. When our washer stopped working I called sears for service on it. They offered us a 2 year warranty on our washer that we paid $120 for. They would cover up to $500 for the repair or we could put the $500 towards a new washer if the repair was more than the $500. Well the repair would of cost more, so we opted for new LG washer that we paid $240 out of pocket for. Just a thought.

We have an extended warranty through GE. We pay $300 a year for 5 appliances (refrigerator, microwave, oven, washer and dryer). There is no deductable. We have used it twice on the fridge and once on the microwave. It has been well worth it for us. Only the microwave is GE so the appliances don't need to be GEs.

Check out Square Trade for a 3 year warranty:

Also, use the code SANTA for a 20% discount. We use square trade for all of our electronics that we warranty. Their prices are much better than buying warranties from the store and they have a good reputation. We just bought a warranty for a Nook and a laptop and added the coverage for accidental drops and spills.

I think you can still get a warranty on your appliances even though they are 2 years old. You'd have to wait for 30 days though before your coverage would go into effect. There's no deductible either, except on cell phones.

Thank you! I just checked it out and their quote was $90 for 3 years before the discount. I think I will go with them. Since my appliances are front loaders, they would be expensive to fix or replace.
