Two questions in one.

First, where can I get a solid colored wide lanyard? I'm starting a pin collection to surprise my son when we go to Disney in December. I figured once he was actually at Disney he can choose his own. I thought it would be an awesome surprise.

I've looked at Walmart, Target, Michaels, AC Moore (they had cute pink and purple ones), Staples, Office Max, Office Depot, JoAnn Fabrics, and several sporting goods stores. Everyone carries narrow ones that resemble shoelaces, or they carry nothing at all.

Does anyone have suggestions as to where I can get a couple wide solid colored lanyards? I've seen some one ebay in wacky designs and logos, or they are big quantities.

My other question is...

Are the CM lanyards narrow? Are they a lot narrower than the tourist lanyards? I'm curious as to how sturdy these CM lanyards are. I'm debating buying one on ebay... or do people mostly buy the CM lanyards for the pin and pitch the lanyard?

Thanks for any help someone can give me.

Wish AZ Jeff was here to see this post because he made hundreds of lanyards two years back for an event. Come on Mean Laureen- help out here!!
Some fabric stores do carry the wider material to make the lanyards., and when you sew on the velcro to close it, makes them pretty sturdy.
Hoping that Jeff or Lauri can see this post and respond- they really know what they're talking about. Caroline:teacher:

Since it's a site that sells lanyards etc. and can't be posted.....I sent you a PM.

I called my niece who is 13. She went on a Disney Cruise last year. She told me that both Hot Topic, some Walmarts, and Claires sell lanyards.

So, my husband took me over to the mall in another town to see. Sure enough they had lanyards.

Claires had several kids designs such as My Little Pony, Hello Kitty and Spongebob lanyards for $1.99 each.

Hot Topic (that store makes me feel old) had a Nightmare Before Christmas lanyard and a cute black Disney lanyard with Tinker bell on it. Those were $6 each.

We went to Walmart in this other town. Low and behold they had about 8 different lanyards there. My town had zero lanyards. The Walmart lanyards were $2.47 each, except for the Christmas lanyards that were 50 cents.

So... I got my lanyards. I'm a happy camper (even though I still have to wait 10 months to use them).

Thanks for the help. :wave2:

The CM lanyards aren't for pins, and they don't have pin studs(although it would be easy to modify them). They're primary purpose is for carrying ID's. If you aren't a CM you can use them to carry your admission ticket and fastpasses. They're too narrow to use for pins.
