Going forNew Years. Does anyone know where I can get greens and black eyed peas? I would prefer a table service, but I will take it where I can get it.

Collards are served with the fried chicken at 50s Prime Time. Don't recall ever seeing black eyed peas served anywhere.

Perhaps Boatwright's at Port Orleans Riverside or House of Blues at Downtown Disney. They're the only two "southern style" Disney restaurants I can think of.

50s has the greens...not sure on black eyed peas. You could always stash a can in your bag and ask the server to have them warmed. I've never tried it though. If you are at 50s its possible that the server will have it done for you! :)

The restaurants will not prepare or warm food that was brought in by guests. Health code issue.

Boatwrights has collard greens. I think you are out of luck on blackeyed peas.

50's PT has collards...yum. Not sure about black eyed peas, haven't seen them anywhere there.

Among hospitality issue, moral issue, ethical issue, ridiculousness issue, etc.

Adapting to allergies and bringing your own item is one thing and eating is one thing, but to BRING your PREFERRED food to an establishment? That's just absurd lol.

I totally understand about the New Year's tradition of this dish (check out my hometown) but quite honestly, if you want the dish like you want the dish, bring your own and have it back in you room with your family. I wouldn't advise to cook it in your room for various reasons but maybe a "make ahead" dish?

Or, like another poster said, you could get the collards at a restaurant and ask for a side to go. Just eat at that restaurant and pay for the side and then bring along a can of black eyed peas. Mix it up back at the resort and you will be good for 2015!

For those who don't know - black eyed peas and collard greens consumed on New Years Day are considered lucky. Where I grew up, having pork on New Year's Day was considered lucky. Nothing racist or insensitive but traditional.

I have reviewed the "southern" restaurant menus, and all I find is greens. I think this makes the most sense. Thanks so much!
