locations of restaurants outside of WDW? My kids really do well at restaurants like Perkins, Bob Evans, and Boston Market. They eat balanced meals and the price is just right. We are heading to WDW for our first family trip in November and are staying at OKW. I am not familiar with the Orlando area at all so I would love to print out some maps before we go.

Much thanks!

Orlando! You do realize that Orlando is about a 30-40 minutes drive from OKW (assuming non-traffic hours)?

Ask for a WDW map or get the one online. You will see how big of an area all of WDW is. OKW is just a few minutes to Downtown Disney which has a couple "Boston Market" price counter-service places. Also, Gooding Plaza (the only supermarket plaza actually in WDW) has several chain restaurants (I remember McDonalds and TGIFriday). But frankly, I don't think that the counter-service meals at resort food courts or at EPCOT are any more than a meal at Boston Market.

For instance, the 1/2 rotisserie chicken at Tusker House in AK is $7.99. The Fish & Chips at Harry Ramsdan's in EPCOT are $6.49. The Teriyaki Chicken at Tomorrowland Noodle Station is $6.49.

Does that help?

Whoops, I guess I just meant the area right around Disney! :rotfl:

Since you're staying at OKW, you might do well to try the Lake Buena Vista area. It's right outside the Disney gates at the Hotel Plaza (Downtown Disney) entrance.

There's a shopping center (Crossroads) with a TGIFridays, several fast food places, and a couple of other places similar to TGIF's. In the next few blocks, there's an Olive Garden, Hooters, Joe's Crab Shack, etc. There's also a nice Pizza Hut in the area. If you head back toward I4 there are several of the buffet style places (like Golden Corral) down that way.

It's true you can find good, cheap food in WDW, but sometimes you just get tired of being stuck in there for every meal. DH would much rather eat offsite than onsite (except for turkey legs, Ohana's, and Rainforest :rotfl: ). So we usually go offsite for most of our meals. We always drive down, so transportation is not a problem. Our kids do better at those type of restaurants as well, so I understand where you're coming from!

Just outside the Downtown Disney gates is just about every restaurant you can imagine. As well as in the Lake Buena Vista area. In Sept. with in 1.5 miles of the Downtown disney gates there are 3 denny's, 4 ponderosas... YOu get the picture... LOL As well as the other chains like TGIF, Ruby Tuesdays... Etc..
Good Luck aand don't worry you won't go hungry !

What I usually do is go to yahoo.com and click on maps. Then I would put in the address of OKW and look that up. Then on the right hand side you can look for whatever you need by clicking on a link. There are links for restaurants, hotels, shopping. It used to come up with a list that you could sort by distance, or alphabetical.

Hi, One that we always visit is Bahama Breeze,it is 5-10 min. from DTD. I am not sure of the exact location(maybe someone else can help?)but this is a favorite for Floridians and you need to go early for dinner or you will have a LONG wait! Joan

Here you go. This is a UK tourist site that has the most detailed maps imaginable of all of the 3 main tourist drags in the Orlando area. The main streets (Irlo Bronson, I-Drive, and 535 in LBV) are linked maps, click on each cross-street link and you will get a detailed map showing the name of EVERY business on that block.

The chain restaurant offerings are endless (this has to be my #1 pet peeve about the area around WDW, there are almost no local restaurants. I like to explore new restaurant finds, and these chains are all the same no matter where one goes. The one exception is in Celebration, there are a few (sort-of) local places there.)

BTW, Bahama Breeze is also a chain, part of the Darden Group. The company has it's HQ in Orlando, and there are always several branches of every Darden restaurant chain in and around Orlando. There are 3 BB's in the area, the closest to WDW is on Vineland @ Little Lake Bryan Rd., which tends to be less crowded than the branch on I-Drive, though not by much.

NotUrsula, that is the coolest website! Those maps are great!

Thanks to everyone for your help! ::MinnieMo

The last time we were in Disney we had a car and after hearing about Cici's pizza on the budget board here, we decided to try it. It is in Lake Buena Vista area (Palm Parkway) and it had all you can eat pizza, salad, dessert buffet. Don't know if your thinking pizza at all but it was really good and fit right in the budget. I think it was something like $3.99 or $4.99 a person. We went there just before our drive out of Disney on our last day. Here's the website : http://www.cicispizza.com/cicis/

There are a ton of resteraunts right in this area too. It does take time to drive off property to get to them though. If you don't mind giving up the time then there are all sorts of resteraunts right on international drive and in the buena vista area. All the offsite gift shops and convience stores have coupon books with good coupons off resteraunts and attractions off property. HTH. Chris.

I checked Perkins, Bob Evans, and Boston Markets websites and found restaurants near Lake Buena Vista, Florida for you. None of them are more than 10 miles from Lake Buena Vista. The great thing about websites for restaurants is that most of them have restaurant locators and you can see if there is a certain restaurant in the area. On www.perkinsrestaurants.com, I found a Perkins located at 12559 State Road 535 in Orlando. Their telephone number is 407-827-1060. On www.bostonmarket.com, I found a restaurant located at 3251 W. Vine Street in Orlando. Their telephone number is 407-935-1263. On www.bobevans.com, I found a restaurant at 7411 W. Irlo Bronson in Orlando. Their telephone number is 407-356-8599. These were the closest locations to Lake Buena Vista, Florida. I love the internet because if I love a particular chain restaurant, I go on their website and see if there is a location near where I am going. Hopefully, this information will help you. Have fun on your trip!
