Anyone have a link? I used to get it through mouse savers or allears net but I cannot find the current years rack rates. Just want to see how much my DVC is saving us each year!

Thanks.

Go to the Disney website and try to make a reservation at a Villa. That should tell you what the current rack rate is.

If you use the Disney website, be sure to add tax. The rates on the mousesavers site include tax and are much easier to use.

You guys are the best! Thank you!

But if you wouldn't normally stay in the DVC villa and pay rack rate for it, are you really saving? Use what you would really pay based on where you would really stay.

Exactly.

And, even if you'd be staying in the DVC rooms no matter what, the proper point of comparison might be renting from another Member. At the very least, compare against the discount Disney normally offers for DVC units in that time period.

I totally understand what you are saying and I wouldn't compare my DVC ownership to rack rates as I would never pay them but just as it is hard to prove a negative it is hard to say what you would do if you didn't own DVC. I'm not even sure we would go to Orlando without DVC we might be sone where else entirely.

I think comparing. To a rental cost is a good idea.

That's very insightful, actually. DVC is in many ways a set of "golden handcuffs." The entire value proposition of DVC is that you commit (and pre-pay for) many years of vacation lodging in a Disney resort in exchange for a discount on that resort. But, if you didn't do that, you might well vacation in many different places. Indeed, we've had several non-DVC vacations over the years that have been fantastic!

As have we but in fairness the ones that have left the most lasting memories have been Florida or California (not just disney) which was what lead us to buy DVC. However, putting a monetary value on our DVC is almost impossible. In reality overall we have probably spent more due to having DVC but am glad we did as it has forced us to go regularly. Best is the feeling as we leave that we know we will be back.

Our best vacation experiences have been based on people not locations. While we've enjoyed Disney over the years, all of our top trips are not Disney oriented because they are based on large family trips. The problem with Disney and such trips is that people are more likely to do their own thing rather than spend quality family time. For a small group this can be one and the same but not generally for a large group, esp a large group where certain guests haven't been enough to be OK with less park time. Our trips have ranged from 24-40 people.

In addition to a few extraordinarily memorable moments at both DLR and WDW, our two top vacations were at a Guest Ranch in the Colorado Rockies, and an Alaskan cruise. Paris is right up there too.

Hi, I would also calculate 25-30% off rack rate or calculate what it would cost to rent out points $10-$13 per point. I don't think many pay/would pay rack rate. It is nice trying to figure it all out. Have fun!:)

Do you have an annual pass? I like the pp calculation above of 25-30% off rack. As an annual passholder we could most usually find this discount and always stayed at Deluxe Resorts prior to buying DVC.
