My dh and dd are dying to try out kayaking. I thought that maybe there would be some at WDW. We're staying at the Polynesian but I don't see any offered there. Have any of you seen them around? And if so, do we have to be staying at the resort that offers them to be able to use them? Thanks a bunch. Hoping that we can try them and dh won't like it, thereby saving me some money when we get home!!!!

Kayaking is a lot of fun! I hope you do get to try it out in Disney! There are kayak rentals at the moderate resorts (Coronado Springs, Caribbean Beach, and Port Orleans), so you can rent them there and use them in the resort's lakes. I know that Fort Wilderness offers canoe rentals, but I'm not sure about kayaks. You do not have to be staying at these resorts to rent the boating equipment. Hope this helps!

Goofy4tink, Gumdrop gave some excellent suggestions.

I was just looking on the official WDW website and found the following generic descriptions regarding "marina rentals" (see below). However, placing a phone call to (407)-939-0754 should get you the exact answer that you seek.

Kayaking is fun. If it comes up windy, you might end up with a good workout, so use caution. I've never done it at WDW but on open bays it can get strenuous if you are out for a while. Have fun!!!

Thanks all. Very useful info. Will look into those resorts.

Does anyone know the hourly rate or just the rate for renting a kayak at any of the resorts or specifically the Contemporary Hotel?

Thanks

I can't speak for the Contemporary, but i remember one time when I rented a kayak for my daughter and me at Riverside - I think it was about $6 for a half-hour. I remember thinking afterwards that this was something worth doing again. Less expensive than riding the bikes, and you get to see the resort from a different point of view. Plus we had fun waving at the people on the Sassagoula Ferry Boats as they went to/from Downtown Disney.
