Hey...
Does anyone know where I can get a wii by Jan. 12? Need it for a birthday present and I refuse to pay more than they are worth on ebay or craigslist.
Any ideas??? or where to look???

There was an article in our local paper about the hard to get wii's. It suggested a website www.wiialerts.com. It lists a bunch of internet sites (Target, Circuit City, Best Buy) and will alert you via email and/or cellphone when they become available. I did it, and within 24 hours was notified that Wii's were instock at Circuitcity.com.

Another article mentioned that Nintendo was issuing "rainchecks" for the Wii's. They were really presale certificates. Not sure how that worked, but its another suggestion.

Not sure how (or if) this would work in Canada though.

I actually just posted about being in Best Buy today and they kept announcing that they had the Wii available.

Thanks for the heads up but I have NO WAY to get to the US to get one....

Keep checking your local Best Buy. My brother was doing his last minute shopping on Christmas eve and saw them unloading 12 Wii's while he was there. You may find it a bit easier - not quite as impossible now that Christmas is over. Good luck!!

We got two before Christmas (DS is away at university so we needed two!). My DH subscribes to some type of newsletter from HBC and both times he received an email and was at his desk at that moment. They said that the Wii was available and just click to order online. He did it immediately and was able to have it delivered to our local Bay store. The last one was just ordered on Thursday (Dec 20) and we received it on December 24. It came from BC and we are in Cape Breton so that was quite fast! Keep checking online because apparently they become available several times per week but they go very quickly. You can do the same thing for Future Shop. Good luck!

I saw some today at HMV in Hamilton, so maybe try calling your local HMV store. We got ours a Zellers in Burlington (Millcroft). That store is near a WalMart and tends to be quieter than your usual Zellers for that reason! Good luck!
