We've only been to WDW and my fearless 4 1/2 yr old ds wants to go to Universal/IOA, and he'll want to ride EVERYTHING he sees, so I want to make sure he's tall enough before we even get near the signs and lines, LOL! Thanks a bunch!

Here you go:

Thanks!!! Sorry if the question gets asked a lot.

Ds is 42" or 43" so he can ride everything but Revenge of the Mummy's at Universal

and Dueling Dragons, DudleyDo Righs Ripsaw, Incredible Hulk, and Doctor Dooms Fear Fall at IOA.

Not bad, 5 rides for both parks, and I'm assuming a few of those are coasters or thrill rides with long lines anyway (we won't be staying on property), so it sounds like it will be worth it!

Now to decide if we could fit both parks into one day for our first time. We've done it at Disney, any opinions?

Thanks!!

No problem, happy to help out.
As to fitting both parks into one day, it can be done especially if you're not riding the big coasters (you can child swap though, just like at WDW), but it would be hard to do both with a four year old. Make sure to bring a bathing suit for your son as there are kids' areas in both parks where he will be certain to get wet. It's these areas that will slow down your touring. When kids get into the Curious George area at USF or If I Ran the Zoo/Camp Jurassic at IOA it's sometimes impossible to get them out!

I have the same problem. We will be going to Disney in April and my DS will be a little over 4.5 years. He loves fast rides and rollar coasters. He loves Spiderman. We were not planning on going to IOA. But I might change my mind. How old is good for the Spiderman ride(in a mom's perspective) He is past 42 inches tall. He is not scared of the dark either. A little daredevil. Loves Dinosaurs and Superheros but still loves Playhouse Disney :earboy2: Will it be worth our money to take him to IOA? I have an AAA card for discount tickets.

We might be going to IOA just for Spiderman too, lol! I showed ds those little movie clips of each ride on Universal/IOA's website and he wants to ride every ride but he also wants to see Barney. They're at a funny age aren't they, little walking contradictions, so tough, yet still little. It should make for a fun time though. I still can't decide if we should just stick with Universal for one day for our first time, but I've got 4 months to decide. I'd love to hear what you decide. Good Luck!

Hi Snoopymom

I looked at some prices and reviews. I think we might spend our last day at Sea World instead. We are thinking about saving IOA/Universal when he is older and don't have to worry about height. Maybe we will plan a short weekend trip to Universal when he is about 8 and he can enjoy alot more. I always wanted to go to Sea World Orlando. I grew up in Ohio and they closed Sea World of Ohio a few years ago. Plus he would be more excited about Sea World now then when he gets older.

Have Fun!

Small world, I grew up in Ohio going to Sea World too. I loved those big yellow slides, lol. We've been to the one in Orlando a bunch of times too. I would let your little guy wear a bathing suit, so if he gets wet and sandy in the kids play area, you can get him rinsed off easily. Our mister crunch bar was miserable, LOL. Also, I don't remember how the food service was at the one in Ohio, but we've had some terrible experiences at the one in Orlando...slow, expensive and terrible. I had to argue with someone who did not speak English to refill my $8 refillable mug and it just doesn't compare to Disney's counter service. I would pack water and snacks. We did the Dine with Shamu also, which is awesome. The earlier you make your reservation, the closer you sit. I wanted to save Univ/IOA for when we could stay on property, but dh is "disneyed out", so I'm still planning, LOL. Have fun!

personally, I think the food at SW has improved the past year. he'll have fun feeding the dolphins and the rays. plus, he'll be able to ride journey to atlantis to soothe the adrenaline junkie in him. it's a great park.
