Where can I drop off rental car?

We want to rent a car and keep it for 4 days picking it up at the airport. We will be staying at POR, what is the closest place to drop off? We rented from Alamo.

The Dolphin and Care Care Center have Alamo.

The closest to POR is probably the Dolphin. Returns here are kind of different; drive up to valet and let them know you're returning a car. They'll give you a receipt and you're done.

When you exit POR, head south on Bonnet Creek Parkway. Make a right onto E. Buena Vista Drive (as if you're heading to Epcot). Stay on this until you reach Epcot Resorts Blvd for the second time. Turn right and follow the signs to the Dolphin.

Actually the closest is at the Lake Buena Vista Palace Hotel across the street from SSR on Buena Vista Dr.
Make sure you designate the drop off location when you make your reservation as it could effect the rental rate.

In the past, we've dropped it off at the Car Care center, and they've shuttled us back to our resort for free.

Also, if it would fit your plans/schedule, take a look at renting it AFTER you arrive at WDW. It's often quite a bit cheaper if you don't pick it up at the airport.

I don't know why but it was actually cheaper for us to pick it up at the airport and return it to the Buena Vista Palace.

Does anyone know if they penalize you (charge you more $) if you return it a little earlier than the time you scheduled for return? (i.e. if I return it that morning versus 3pm.)

Also, I got a rate of $204.42 for 10 days with Alamo and about the same with Dollar. Is Alamo the better deal?

If it is about the same price, it is hard to say what is the better deal, it would depend on which agency you want to do business with. The only Alamo that will take you back to your resort is the Car Care Center, if you drop it at one of the other ones, there is no shuttle.
