Coloardo is 10 hours due west of me and we are much further north and west! I think you are talking 20 hours! Save that for summer, there will be snow in those mountains in June specifically the top of Pike's Peak! Straight north of you that might have snow could be Smokey mountains. Here is Kansas City we are snow free. I was talking to my friend in Michigan the other day and they didn't even have snow. They will in January to be sure!
Rippington, you will love Colorado if you go. It is nice to be 10 hours away from beautiful nature. It is also surreal if you drive it, because if you go through Nebraska or Kansas, you have flat as far as the eye can see for six hours (BTW Nebraska is much flatter than Kansas) and then when you get 1/3 of the way into Colorado, you can go to an overlook in Limon and see the mountains in the distance and it is so beautiful. It is flat literally until you get to Denver if you go that way. Just be aware, the first day there don't get too active, because the air is really thin that far up. Kansas is also interesting because you can see where the rivers are because that is the only place where there are trees. If you drive and want to stop anywhere in western Kansas at night, be sure to get off the highway like twenty miles and drive out into the country. You have never in your life seen brighter stars! You can also see storms off in the distance! Have fun if you go!
