I am taking my first trip without my family (meaning only one 3-1-1 bag, not the 4 that I'm used to!) so I am trying to figure out how to get the liquids I need without having to check a bag. Since I was going to use Amazon Prime Now for a grocery delivery anyways, I checked on their travel size items. It turns out that I can get the same travel size shampoo, conditioner and hairspray that I can get at Target for almost the same price. For example, the Herbal Essences shampoo and conditioner are only $1.30. By not packing these in my carry-on, I can save room for the stuff that usually goes into my kids' bags...laundry pods, makeup, sunscreen, etc.

I get mine at CVS when I have a coupon for 30% off entire purchase. They have a pretty wide selection of name brand travel sizes.

The Walmart near us has a big, long, and I assume temporary cardboard bin type display in the middle of the main aisle near the HBA section. It has all sorts of travel size items, and I assume was put in for the summer vacation months. It has been there since June I think.

In this instance I'd stick to Target, Walmart, BBY, etc. Practically the same price & name brands you recognize that way. (Not being snobby here, I just don't like to experiment with new stuff on vacay.)

When I run out of shampoo or conditioner and I'm too lazy to go to the store to pick some up, I always just refill my travel size bottles with the conditioner I use. That's the absolute cheapest way IMO. I also use brands for my hair that are not available in travel sizes.

I can seem expensive but for camping, even car camping, its much easier to carry a few ketchup packets, the new big ones, that a 14 oz bottle (smallest it comes). Oh and now you have an opened bottle of ketchup floating in cooler.

Buy empty travel size bottles at the dollar store and fill them with the products you already have at home.
