We're heading to OKW 4/21. I'm ordering some groceries and I'm getting English Muffins for Breakfast. I don't want a whole jar of jelly/jam because I'll never use it up before we leave. I'd like to bring those individual jam packs they have in restaurants (no I really don't want to steal them from a restaurant:rotfl: ).

oh man, that sample sized site is the coolest thing ever! I had no idea I could buy these things!

We buy one of the Squeeze bottles at home and just pack it with us. It's plastic and not glass, so it won't break in your suitcase.

Why not just save extra packets from McDonald's? Seriously, my husband uses one packet in the morning and they always give us a handful. Those add up fast! ;)

I've also seen them at Sam's Club and Costco. Sometimes they have them, sometimes they don't. Of course you have to buy A LOT! ;)

You guys are the best! This helped me, too, only I was wondering about salad dressing. We're pop-up camping and will have limited 'fridge space.

DIS rocks!

Sorry, I don't consider it "stealing" if they hand your 4-6 jellies and you use 1 or none of them and take the rest home.

My grandmother who is diabetic loves the little jellies and I feel very JUSTIFIED in giving her any jelly I don't use when I order something that should come with jelly.

JMHO.

The Welch's plastic squeeze bottle works well too!

When some of my students were doing a project (they were making breadfrom another country), they called a local diner and asked if they could buy the little jelly packets. The diner was very accomodating and charged them a penny each. You might want to ask a local restaurant if you could buy a few from them. :) It might be a bit pricey to order the small sizes. Even if you won't use up a whole jar of jelly, a small one for $1 might be a better deal than buying a lot of individual ones.

When we were in the UK for a few months, we mentioned to my MIL during a phone call that many restaurants we'd been to charged for ketchup packets, mustard, etc. A few days later we received a express mail package...full of packets of ketchup, mustard, relish, etc. She spent $25 to send it to us! It was really funny. I have no clue where she got that many to send us. We would have had to buy at least 250 ketchup packets at restaurants at about 10¢ each in order to recoup the amount she spent to mail them to us! It was a really nice gesture and a welcome treat from home. :)

They have to be thrown out anyway, they can't give them to anyone else.

I agree with a previous poster... ask a local diner.

I worked in a small diner, and there was an eldery lady that always bought preportioned butter packets from us. They were easier for her to handle than anything she could get at the local grocery stores.

I had a VERY uptight boss/owner, but he was still very accomidating. If he'd do it, anyone will. :)

I also vote for saving extras from McDonalds, ect... That's how we get our ketchup and mustard and suck for camping trips. I never throw away any unopened package of condiments I'm handed. They all go into a special area of the refrigerator.

What I meant by "stealing" is that I don't eat breakfast out that much - therefore I don't get jam/jelly with my meal. Some diners have them sitting out on the table. If I doesn't go with my meal and I take some home I would not be comfortable.

I love this idea of taking individual jams/jellies. I asked our waitress this morning, at breakfast, if they could sell a few to me. I explained what they're for, and told her I didn't want to "steal" any. She said, "If I give them to you, then you're not stealing. How many do you need?"

Long story short, I now have plenty!!! Great tip!
