This may sound like a silly question, but I'm packing a jar of Peanut Butter and Jelly. We are taking MEARS, so we don't have a grocery stop. We are staying at All Star Movies. Is there a place at the airport, or at the resort to purchase a loaf of bread? I really hate to try to carry a Loaf 1400 miles on an airplane - without crushing it. I have heard there is a grocery store in DownTown Disney, but is there anything on a more direct path from the airport to the hotel room?

I know that the DVC resorts have bread in their shops. I would think the AS might also have bread for sale. They sell other food items there. I was recently there, and don't remember. Maybe a call to the resort gift shop would put you on the safe side.

You could always take Disney Transportation to Downtown Disney, then walk down Hotel Plaza Blvd. At the end, cross over to "Crossroads"
There is a large "Albertson's" in that strip mall. I would think that this is the closest grocery store within walking distance to Disney Property. Unfortunately, All-Stars is on the opposite side of property.
Another thought, just like DVC, I bet they would have staple groceries at Fort Wilderness.

Take the bus to Boardwalk. The Boardwalk bakery has yummy bagels and rolls. You will need a knife to slice the bagels and rolls. I have no idea if you can bring one in your CHECKED luggage but definately not your carryon. The bagels make great sandwhiches though! HTH

The gift shops in all the DVC resorts carry bread - Wilderness Lodge, Old Key West, Boardwalk & Beach Club.

I have never done it but have read on these boards of people ordering from net.grocer. They will deliver non-perishable groceries to your resort. I don't know how expensive it is. The grocery store by hotel plaza is actually a Goodings but it is quite a walk from Downtown Disney in my opinion and transportation to DD is not very fast. I think the easiest places on property for you might be Wilderness Lodge or Beach Club stores. Personally, if net.grocer didn't fit my budget, I'd probably take it in my carryon. Pack it in a shoebox or something...I've heard plain popcorn is a good buffer. Maybe even try in your checked luggage if you surround the box with enough clothes to insulate it. Might be worth a try.

You can get bread, milk and other basic grocery items at the gift shop at the All Stars. Price is higher but for the basic bread and milk it is worth it.

Well, that sounds a lot simpler!!:)

Just FYI... the gift shop at All Star Movies did NOT carry bread. They had beverages of several types (milk, juice, soda, adult beverages), and many different types of snacks, but no bread.

There is a deli at Downtown Disney(may have bread)
Also a small grocery at Disney's Campground.

I've brought a plastic grocery bag on the plane before with bread and chips and cookies. No big deal really. This will save you time and money.

Just think of it as no different than carrying your WDW souveniers home in their shopping bags at the end of your stay. Come to think of it, I even brought leftover snacks home on the plane the same way, because there was too much to leave. We were laughing about the cupcakes that made a roundtrip.

I have seen prepared peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for sale at many disney resorts food courts or game rooms.
You will find more food items in stores of vacation home type like Old key west, Boardwalk, Beach club, Wilderness lodge, also at the marketplace. also at the gas stations located next to the Boardwalk and Team disney.
