Hey everyone,
I am trying to price out a room or some rooms for our next Sept vacation.

Here is the list of people attending:
Me, my wife, and 2 year old
Friend, his wife, and 1 year old

I would like to stay in one suite with 2-3 separate bedrooms. Also we would like to stay on property as well but I dont want to break the bank. Delx or Mod resort preferred.
Separate rooms seem to be to expensive.

It will be for a week at the end of Sept.

Let me know your thoughts.

Ok Not sure I understand this? Why wouldn't you each stay in room with your family? This will not break the bank. Otherwise if you are looking for Suites, this may break the bank. I believe there are suites in Coronado Springs (moderate) and AKL and WL (lower priced deluxes). I believe of course there are suites in all the Deluxes, but I guess I don't understand why you wouldn't each stay in your own room. Do you want to put the kids in a separate room from yourself? You might want to consider getting a WL cabin for one family, but I think it would be tight for the six of you especially if you want to separate the children.

Of course you could book through Central Reservations a Two bedroom villas at any of the DVC resorts. Those would be the Home away from Home category on the website. They are Old Key West, Boardwalk Villas, Beach Club Villas, Animal Kingdom Villas, Saratoga Springs and Villas of Wilderness Lodge. They would give you a main King Bedroom with bath, a living room (with pull out couch) and Kitchen, and then an additional "Studio" room which is a Queen and Sofa bed and full bath. You can shut off the rooms from each other. You can Rent DVC through the rent/trade boards also and is usually cheaper. All are onsite and have all the amenites of the resorts. Some minor drawback to renting DVC so be sure to do research on the boards.

Good Luck

I think you need to clarify 'too expensive', LOL. Because honestly, everyone has a different idea of 'expensive'. Maybe if you could give a general idea of what price range you are thinking, per family, it would be easier to help.

I will give you our example, because as a family of 5 (our kids are 20,18 and 13) we struggled with figuring out the best way to go without all of us crammed in one room.

What worked best for us and made most financial sense was two rooms.

We got a package that was roughly $3400 for:

2 rooms at POR- moderate (1 king/1-2 double beds)
7 nights
8 day park hoppers and
the 'free dining' plan
(sept 6-13)

I am sure that your having one less 'adult' will mean you could possibly get something similar or even better for next year. This package really covered everything except getting there and the extras we wanted to buy. The amount of food is almost overwhelming, the tickets are covered and the rooms.

The advantages for us was that we had two bathrooms and privacy, honestly. Especially with two little ones and two families, this will probably be an important thing. Also, having two separate rooms, you have a better chance of being able to have your own schedules and not be in each others faces more than you may want to be, if you know what I mean. It can be stressful travelling with another family, I think I would go for two rooms or at least something that has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. A villa/suite would be wonderful, but you are then looking into a good deal more $$, from my research.

If you all want to stay together, go over to the DVC boards and check out the DVC villas. You could get a 2 bedroom villa, with a full kitchen and living room, laundry room, 2 bathrooms. The 2 bedrooms sleep up to 8.

I agree w/ buzz and say look into the two bedroom suites or villas... you can also book a stay at the cabins in the FWL.... Have a great time planning and enjoy! :goodvibes

The villas are wonderful and will give you extra room. Having a full kitchen allows you to save a little food money and the washer and dryer allows you to pack less.
They are also expensive. I priced a 1 bedroom BWV with 8 day Park Hopper tickets ahd the Dining Plan (Paid) for 3 adults in October. Through CRO (Disney reservations) it was $5000.95 for the week.
It is cheaper to rent points from an owner, but when you do this you are making a contractual comittment to them, and it is not easy, if possible, to change your plans.
I think your best bet may be 2 rooms.
Good Luck in your planning.

The two bedroom villa will cost more than two moderate or deluxe rooms.

DVC rooms are no longer call Home Away from Home, but are referred to as Disney Vacation Villa Resorts.

You can rent a reservation from a member, but you will lose the flexibility you have went you rent directly from Disney. You trade off $$$ for freedom.

Also, if you get the two bedroom villa, who gets the master bedroom with the king bed and jacuzzi tub and who get the second bedroom with one or two queens (depends on the resort) and/or one double sleeper sofa and no jacuzzi tub?

If you want to try DVC Studio's trying renting. You won't have the "I can cancel freedom" but you will be staying at a Deluxe for well below the cost of a Deluxe. For a week in Septemeber the least you would pay for a two bedroom unit would be 2170.00 for Seven nights in September (any days since you are including two weekend nights in that pricing. The pricing come from it taking 217 points to stay at Old Key West for seven nights. You usually can get a renter to charge around 10.00 per point therefore you pay 2170.00 total (no tax is necessary). Some rentors charge up to 12.00 per point, but I have found plenty of wonderful, honest and helpful DVC rentors that charge 10.00. Anyways the most you would pay would be for a Boardwalk or Beach Club villa for a total of 270 points or 2700.00 for the week. If you divide that by two and then divide by seven day, each family would pay 156.00 to 159.00 per night for their room. You would have a kitchen and washer and plenty of space. Just a thougt since you couldn't find a deluxe for 159.00 per night anywhere. So do the math and look around if you have your heart set on some kind of suite. Otherwise, two rooms at a resort sounds like your best bet.
