Where are you vacationing this year "non disney"

We are planning a trip which will start in St. Louis for 2 baseball games, then on to Niagara Falls. We will then go to Cooperstown to the Baseball Hall of Fame. We are hoping to then travel to Samuel Clemmons home in Hartford CT. It will be a lot of driving, but with many fun things to see!:car:

We are going for a few days to stay with my sister in Tampa, Florida. Hoping for a few relaxing days at the beach and water park.

This year, we've already book Dauphin Island, AL in July and Disney in September.

Next year we're skipping Disney :sad1: and going on an Alaskan land and cruise tour.

I have always wanted to go to Alaska! I hear it is beautiful!

We are also going to North Conway, NH! We did 2 nights last year and DD loved Storyland SO much we are going back, staying in North Conway from Sun-Fri. Storyland has free parking, cheap food and it so cute and clean! Plus if you go after 3pm, then you get free another day so you can actually go 1.5 days for the price of one. We are also doing Santa's Village and DH wants to go on an Alpine Slide.

Another DIS'er shared this a few months ago for savings. It is $25 and gets a child in for free. Money goes to a good cause and there are a ton of other things to save on. I live near Davis Farmland which is expensive and we will probably check out Water Country, so a good deal for us!

I still need to call and make sure you can do the after 3pm deal with this.

Thanks for the link about breathenh program.

We are camping in Lancaster, NH for a week in June and will be going to Santa's Village. This may be the last year DS still believes and we want him to experience it one more time. Both SV and Storyland are great little parks, clean and friendly.

We also went to Clark's Trading Post last summer. It was $17 for the day and DS (7) and GGP (85) both loved it. We watched 2 different bear shows, rode Segways, water boats, trains, etc... GGP and DH really enjoyed the museum-type exhibits.

Some of the museums and attractions in Maine and NH have discounted or BOGO tickets available through the Tropicana Juicy Rewards program. You might want to check it out if you are planning a trip.

Our July camping trip will be a week at Hadley's Point on Mount Desert Island, Maine. We absolutely love hiking Acadia NP. DH is cleaning and sealing the camper roof today... a sure sign that summer is on the way!!!

We are starting our summer this year with a trip to the Outer Banks, NC in june once the kids are done with school and ending the summer with a trip to WDW. During the rest of the summer we will be taking weekend trips to visit family in DC and poconos.

The Smokies! Gatliburg cost as much as Disney and the traffic was worse. It was pretty!

I agree! There are so many ideas on this board that I wish I could do everything (maybe if I hit the lottery....lol) We are looking at the Bermuda cruise out of Baltimore. Did you look at the New England/Canada cruise?? That may be worth it too!

I looked at the Celebrity cruises, but they are all in the fall after school starts. I mam see if one of the other lines has something.

Finally getting to go to Hawaii. It's business related, so it won't be All fun but at least I'll be there. :)

We're doing Universal (to be fair, we are swinging a day at DHS!) and then, if we can swing it, a last minute trip to Vegas!

I wanted to take a long weekend and go to Hiddenite, NC to do some gem digging but DH said that's not a vacation and veto'd it. The kids and I really want to do it someday.

Now I've got to come up with another cheap long weekend type vacation (less than 800.00). I thought about Mrytle Beach SC but DH said he doesn't want to do that either because it'll be too hot in July.

I'll be checking out this thread for ideas too!

gem digging sounds fun!

A week on Nova Scotia (hopefully preceeded by a few days on PEI) then a week on Nantucket.

Went to Ocean Isle Beach,NC for spring break.
Considering HHI for Memorial Day weekend. If not then, another time this summer.
We usually go to Wrightsville Beach, NC for a week in the summer but may do something else ; it will be our 20th Wedding Anniversary .
Will go to Carolina Beach with my dad and sister's family in the Fall to fish.
Charleston for a long weekend.
Plan on visiting FIL several times who lives right at Boone,NC.
Would love to take the kids to Washington,D.C. They've never been and my aunt lives nearby there so we could visit her.
Maybe a weekend in NYC because the kids and I have never been (husband has ).
We have a friend with a condo at N. Myrtle Beach and have gone there the last couple of Thanksgivings but thinking about Disney instead if we can work it out. The kids want to go really bad.
And maybe something at Christmas but not sure yet. Anyone ever been to Turks and Caicos or Punta Cana? Or Cancun recently? Would like to go but the flights seem high. This is what we may consider for the Anniversary trip but I really want the kids to go with us. Would also love to go to San Diego and drive up the Pacific Highway and finish off in San Francisco. Grand Canyon would be nice also. What do you guys think?

Boy! I need to win the lottery too. hahah

Been to Hawaii and loved it but boy that is a LONG flight!!

And then as many times to the beach as we can. We are a beach family :) Plus, it helps I can work while I'm there and do business. It may be that the beach is the only one we really get to do. Been a tough year this year. But I'll be happy if that is all ;)

We are driving from Minnesota to New Mexico, so we'll see the sights along the way (South Dakota, Colorado - DH really wants to go to the Fat Tire brewery.

If anyone has suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

My S-I-L is in sales with the company that makes Fat Tire! Go!!! Buy lots of Fat Tire! :rotfl:

(We are going to DL the first week of May for only 2 days to use our free GAD vouchers. So we get our Disney fix.:thumbsup2)
My DD called me a couple of months ago to ask me where we could go to use up a free timeshare week she has to use. Her DH and mine have to work but her and I have lots of vacation time to use each year(yay) because we've been with our Co. so long. So she gave me the list of choices and we both did son web surfing, and both decided that we would spend the week in Williamsburg, Virginia! We both had always wanted to check out Colonial Williamsburg, and Busch Gardens, so we are going May 22-29th with 3 and 8 year olds. We'll have a blast. There's a great "Bounce ticket" available for attractions too, getting the little one in for free. (Includes water park)
We also took a trip in March to the San Diego area, and just bummed around and enjoied the beaches, and pool. Skipped the attractions this time. Very relaxing.

Williamsburg is great! You will really enjoy it. I haven't been there since I was little, but am definately going to go back sometime! Have fun!

DH and I are planning to drive down to Washington DC this summer. I went once as a child and he has never been. DH is very into NASA, space flights, etc so we will likely spend lots of time at the Air and Space Museum. We will stop and see an aunt of mine in PA and hope to stop and see a cousin in MD.

We are tentatively planning a trip out to Disneyland sometime next year. Neither of us have ever been and would like to try something different. I still need my Disney fix though so it will make us both happy.
