Where are you having your Rehearsal Dinner?

We're figuring on empty at that time of day! Everything I've read on the DVC boards says the public areas of the DVC resorts are woefully underused. Plus, there are two other common areas that people can go to instead right nearby. :thumbsup2

On the other hand, Sunday is the biggest check-in day at DVC resorts, and people who don't get their rooms by 4pm may need a place to sit around stewing... hmmm....:scratchin

Yeah, I would think that it should be relatively quiet, and its such a beautiful room!

I think if they can't take the hint that there's a group gathering in there and would like to sit around stewing, then maybe someone could politely ask them to go sit somewhere else-- and if they're the type to be easily disgruntled, then they'll have two things to be stewing about when they get to their new seating area! :)

We plan on having our's at the Liberty Tree Tavern in MK. I think it's a character dinner and the food is thanksgiving style.

Hey I'm a DVC'er and have been lurking on your PJ. I think most of us when the room isn't ready drop our bags off and head to the parks or pool. They give you your key and a number to call to see what your room number is. I'm heading down on Thursday to stay at BCV for MLK weekend. I'll check out the number of stewing DVC members in public areas for you.

:rotfl: HIGH-larious - you guys crack me up! Thanks! :thumbsup2

Rehearsal dinner is one place where we decided to save a little money. We are having our rehearsal in the morning, so we could have a luncheon. Plus, this gives everyone the rest of the day to spend in the parks. Also, since we're having it at either Boardwalk or Yacht & Beach (since we're getting married inside Epcot) I went with FRESH at the Dolphin Resort. The reasons I went with them are
  1. They have a buffet, so we don't have to worry about a set menu.
  2. They have a private room that we can use for no charge.
  3. Our guests can take the boat directly there from the rehearsal and can take it back to Epcot or to MGM when we are finished.
  4. We can bring in our favors in advance and can decorate however we want in that area.
It's a little hard to see in this picture, but this looks into the room there.

There are a lot of other restaurants at Downtown Disney- House of Blues, Wolfgang Puck and Portobello Yacht Club that were also great options.

Thanks for all the responses about drinks at 'Ohana.

I was also thinking of a rehersal breakfast - maybe Chef Mickey - I'll have to wait and see as we get closer.

I never thought of a lunch! Hmmm!! I just found out today- after inquiring about our rehearsal -that it will be in the morning! We are also getting married in Epcot! Maybe a lunch would work!! So much to consider! Especially when the next day will be an early one!!!

Hey Linda- We are meeting up alot lately! Make sure to book early if you do it there- I just called today for a breakfast the day after our wedding (in June) and there is no reservation available!!:headache:
Now I am rethinking it and our rehearsal dinner- which I have left a message for the O'hana manager to return to see if that is possible:sad2: :upsidedow

Our rehersal is early in the morning at Epcot. We're going out to brunch at Spoodles on the BoardWalk after, just with the wedding party (since they're the only ones who will be at the rehearsal - it's so early!). Would that work?

 This really cracked me up!

i think i already posted this, but my ffil is having a dinner for his family (sore subject) the night before the wedding at portobello yacht club at dtd, we are having a rehearsal lunch right after the rehearsal which is at 10am at the garden grill in epcot. we booked an adr for 11 people and we can use the dde! the food is family style and my FAVORITE RIDE EVER is the land, so i'm excited about it!

We did not really have a rehearsal dinner, but for those considering it, I would recommend 2 things-

1) Pick a restaurant that will be easy for people to get to regardless of where they are coming from (parks, DTD, hotels). We would have loved to have something at Boma or Jiko, but for the guests spending the day in the hotel, they'd have to take two buses to get there. And Disney Transportation is pretty much awful.

2) If you're using your APs, get the DDE card! It will pay for itself in this one meal!

I think it would! I was totally not thinking of a morning rehearsal- of course now that I know- I does make sense!:rolleyes1

Thanks for the info:)

I second this one! We had ours at Ohana and used our DDE. It was soooo worth it! There were 20 of us and we drank like fish...my bill was still only around $750! I highly recommended Ohana...we had an AMAZING time...lots of fun for everyone and the food was super!

After many go arounds with where to have it, we ended up going to Raglan Road. Everyone had a great time, and it was relatively easy for everyone to find. It has good food, a semi private dining area, plus if you are there late enough you get the Irish band playing.

Our original spot was Whispering Canyons Cafe, but at 6 months out they didn't have room. They were gonna make the reservation, and then make us wait around until they could eventually fit us all in. Also, they were gonna require us to get the all you can eat skillet.

Well I'm a lucky Disney bride indeed because my FIL's offered to pay for the Rehearsal Dinner and dessert party (which we've added after the rehearsal dinner as a surprise for our guests!) We'll be having our entire party (and maybe a few extra guests so that we make our minimum) at the Italy Isola. I'm sooooo excited . I feel crazy because it's sort of like having a pre-reception in a way since everyone will be there. Two nights with wonderful views and fireworks. Now I just have to keep thinking good thoughts about no rain! :goodvibes And try really hard to keep the secret for almost a whole year!

Christine princess:

We're having ours at Narcoosees (sp?) in the bar area. How far out were you guys able to book your ADRs??

I wanted the Chef's Domaine but we have too many people! We will be having two large tables in the main dining room and we are using the group dining menus. I am worried the timing will be tight - we will be having dinner at 7:45pm and our Welcome Dessert Party (which is also at the GF) is at 9:00pm.

We did ours at the Whispering Canyon Café 2 years ago. Everyone enjoyed it. We found it to be fun and relaxing before the big day. I just love that place and the food. GL

Great posts all. I love hearing what everyone did. We are thinking three different places: what do you think:

Ohana's
California Grill
Teppan Edo (Teppanyaki in Japan)

Not sure which to go with. Question: If you have it in a disney park, do your guests have to pay for park entry. Our rehearsal dinner is going to be big too unfortunately. I am thinking about 40 people. We have 5 bridesmaids, 5 groomsmen, a flower girl and 2 ring bearers. I feel like that is so many people.....anyway, what are your thoughts?
