Where are you eating while visiting Universal and other parks?

I have been meticulous in planning the first week of our vacation (which will be in Disney), but I have almost NOTHING planned for our second week. We are a party of 6, so I know we will most likely need reservations, but I feel confused about how and where to make them.

We have been considering some of the local dinner shows (like Arabian Nights and Midevil Times), but we arent planning to rent a vehicle so we will have to use cabs from the Nick Family Suites. I dont even know how far those locations are from the hotels.

Anyone have opinions on where to eat? What the best dinner shows are? A trust worthy place to order discounted tickets in advance online?

The only dinner show we've done in Orlando so far is the Pirates Dinner Adventure. We got discounted (military) tickets and figured we'd give it a try. OMG it was a Blast!!! There was a pre-show with snacks and a bar and then they let you into the actually show with the food. I'm picky and while I can't remember what I ate, I remember enjoying it. The show was Awesome...the set just amazing. We both recommend it! DH even got chosen to be part of the show!!! :rotfl:

As for us, we are from Tampa so we're lazy about finding new/fun places there. We'll be at Universal in a couple weeks and the only places I know we'll be eating are at the Luau, Margaritaville, and Raglan Road (Downtown Disney).

Oh, I wanted to add that for the Pirate show we just called and ordered our tickets through them.

Sorry no advice on the dinner shows. The only one we've done was Mideival Times here in New York and we hated it. I'm just not into eating a whole chicken with my hands in the dark with the lingering smell of horses surrounding us :headache: The rest I've heard are fun though!

I really can't reccommend the Universal restaurants enough. We LOVE Margaritaville in CityWalk, Mythos at Islands of Adventure, and Finnegans at Universal. All three have delish, reasonably priced food in really fun atmospheres. We're also trying Lombard's on our upcoming trip. The Universal sit-downs are really good and you don't even need reservations for a lot of them!

I agree that Pirates Dinner Show is fun. Another good one is Slueths.

Here are their websites:

i have done 3 of the dinner shows.

i think we liked medieval times the best.
they have a village outside the theater that we really enjoyed!

food wasn't bad and plentiful.

We did that one a few years ago and it was fun too. If I remember correctly, the arena seats were arrainged into 6 groups, and each group cheered for their corresponding knight. Good food and good entertainment. For people that love renaissance festivals, I strongly suggest Medieval Times.

My favorite was King Henry's Feast. Unfortunately, it closed several years ago.

The one dinner show that I was completely disappointed in was Al Capone's. My problem with that show is that they catered to bussed-in groups at the the detriment to smaller groups (families). Food is served buffet style and the bussed-in groups were allowed access to the buffet prior to the smaller groups. In our situation, much of the food was gone and we overheard some members of the bussed-in groups bragging that they had gone back for seconds, as we were finally allowed access to the buffet line. The show was ok but nothing spectacular.

Before I was an Orlando resident, I did Medieval Times and King Henry's Feast. From what I can remember...both shows were very good as well as the food. Sadly...King Henry's Feast is no longer around. :sad2:

We've done Mythos every visit...and I recommend it!

We enjoyed Lombardos twice...but it appears the menu has changed so I'm not sure how it is now...
