Hi all,

Have just come home to find an answerphone message from Virgin saying that my seat numbers have been changed.

I had got the 2 seats at the very back, now I've got 20 A+C,for both outward and return - so a bit of difference!!

The aircraft is a 747-200 as I'm travelling from Manchester, have tried to find a seating plan but the one I found on virginflyer doesn't show a row 20. So am I sitting on the wing??

Anyone got a clue where these seats actually are???

Thanks

Bev

On a Virgin 747-200 rows 1-16 are Upper Class and rows 28-31 are Premium Economy.

There is no row 20!

Perhaps there is an aircraft type change - hence the new seat numbers?

On the Airbus 340-300 & 600 seats in row 20 a&c are Premium Economy - perhaps you have had an upgrade too :)

We had row 22 which was in the little section of 4 rows between PE/UC (not sure which is was - didn't look quite big enough to be UC but having never travelled in either I'm not too sure!) and the main bulk of the plane. I think they tend to sit passengers with special needs here as it's a bit quieter, my brother is partially disabled and 6ft 4 tall & the seat he had gave him a bit more leg room. You also get served quicker towards the front of the plane.

I'm intrigued that you've had a phone call to tell you about the change.

Whenever we 'pre-book' our seats with Virgin they always emphasise that it is a seating request, not a guarantee - and then they change the seating when we check in LOL!

Has anyone else ever been told in advance that their seats had been changed?

Hi Hilary

I think after reading sevans reply it's starting to make sense-

I travel with wheelchair assistance so being put in that section would certainly be better for access

So it's looking like Virgin's special needs team is on the ball :D , they sent me a form a while back about needs on the plane and where would be best to sit.

Originally the seats at the back were because they were near to the toilet, 2 together so I wouldn't have to struggle trying to get past a stranger into the chair.

oh well- as long as it's not on the wing I'll be happy

Bev,
So it's looking like Virgin's special needs team is on the ball
that's excellent to hear, and would explain why they have been in touch with you regarding the change.

Let's hope row 20 is a lot more comfortable than the wing! ;)

I was on the Virgin 747 no more than 3 weeks ago flying Club Orlando (Upper Class) and I am pretty sure that you have been upgraded to Premium Economy as if I'm not mistaken the seat configuration goes like this:
Rows 1-4 upstairs Club Orlando,
Rows 5-10 downstairs Club Orlando
Rows 11-22 Premium Economy
Rows 23 onwards Economy

Well where ever it is, unless they've put someone inbetween you (and they wouldn't have done that!) then it's only a row of two seats A & C are window and aisle seats - sure sounds like you might have got PE :)

YIPEEEEEE :Pinkbounc

Penny- it's looking as if you are right :teeth: , have spoken to my TA and she says that they are PE seats.

She has had a new invoice with P.E upgrade typed on it- even better the total to pay was £000.00

So it's a freebie from Sir Richard , apparantly it was decided that the original seats would be too difficult for me to use,

Just see if they change their minds when I check in.

Bev

Well done Virgin.
We (none more than myself) are all quick enough to criticise when things are not to our liking but credit where it is due and full marks to Virgin in this case.

We just got back and had originally been allocated seats in row 41 with an aisle seat for me because of my disability. On arrival at the airport we were reallocated to row 22 (the bulkhead between economy and PE) so that I could stretch out my leg. On the way home we asked at Downtown Disney check in and two of us were moved again to row 22 to give extra space with the others in row 23. I would definitely use Virgin again as the help we got from them was wonderful. I wouldn't have said no to an upgrade to PE though!!!
