I haven't been keeping up with the DCL news, but I thought it might be nice to sail August 2012 to celebrate DH's 50th. I went on the Disney site, but although they show where the two new ships will be, they don't even let you select the either the Magic or the Wonder. We've done the Caribbean a couple of times, so I thought it might be nice to do a different itinerary.

Bottom line, August 2012, where is the Magic and the Wonder? Anyone know?

Disney hasn't released info on cruises aug 2012-dec 2012. not sure when DCL when release info on cruises during that time period. i heard early spring 2011...but idk if that's true....

Rumor has it that the Magic will remain somewhere in Europe - not sure if Eastern Med, Baltics or what... Would think that the Wonder will remain on the West Coast...not sure on itineraries there either...they will likely release more info. this spring. After all, summer 2012 IS still 2 years away...plenty of time yet.

The Magic can be booked through March 2012 and the Wonder through April 2012.

The rumor is the Magic will stay in Europe permanently once the Fantasy is placed in service.

Wonder - west coast, Mexican Riviera & Alaska
Magic - Mediterranean Sea and Northern Europe
Dream - Bahamas 3-4-5 night cruises
Fantasy - Caribbean 7 night cruises

That's a rumor I don't see happening - at least not in 2012. I think there's a much greater demand for the Magic to sail out of New York and/or Galveston than for it to remain in Europe during the fall/winter/spring.

For what it is worth my sister spoke to DCL a few days ago about the 2012 itenerary. When we were on the Magic this last October we booked a East Caribbean for summer 2012. We did that to get the booking discount but told the agent on the ship we were planning on doing Alaska in 2012. She kinda looked at us and said, I don't know if that will happen.

We just figured they hadn't figured out the ports yet.

But the other day my sis called DCL about an upcoming April Dream trip and asked if the 2012 is out. The DCL agent told her that they ALREADY know that the Wonder is not going to Alaska in the summer of 2012 and that agent should have already known that when we booked on board.

Of course this is just one CM but I would be very curious to know where the Wonder will be in the summer of 2012. I can't imagine they can do a whole year of Mexican Rivera.

WoW! No Alaska. Thats a bit surprising. maybe they haven't had the turn out they wanted on Alaska and will be trying the Hawaiian cruises. Although, I know there are lots of issues with Hawaiian cruises and having to visit a foreign port.:confused3

I was really surprised too since they haven't even SAILED to Alaska yet! I am hoping this isn't accurate information because I would really love to sail to Alaska in Summer of 2012.

Summer of 2012 is only a year and half away so I really hope they have the iteneary soon. I want the early booking discounts!

Thanks for the info everyone. DH would really love to go to Alaska, so I'm hoping they will be sailing there again in August 2012. I wouldn't mind sailing out of NY to anywhere, it will save us the airfare:).

Hawaii we are saving for my 50th, which is many, many, many years away :rolleyes1.

Rumors are just that...rumors.

As an agent, I hear all sorts of things from many different sources, and well, the truth is...you never *really* know until the final announcement is made.

But it's fun to speculate on what will or might happen!

OoooH speculation! Hmm... Well if NY becomes home that leaves wonderful New England/ Canada opportunities (Hello Boston, Maine , Nova Scotia, and so forth!) or South to Bermuda ..... Hmmm the possibilities

I have had my eye on Alaska for this year, but the prices is quite a bit higher than I am willing to pay for it. Maybe this is a sign that bookings are low & they will be coming out with some better prices.

With two ships slotted for Florida I can't imagine they'd also have a third ship on the East Coast. My guess is that they'll have the Wonder for West Coast tours (whatever they end up being), the two new ships on the East Coast and the Magic sailing the world--maybe eastern med in 2012 summer, maybe Japan or other asian ports in the future.

I would love it if the magic did Egypt or that side of the Med. We have done dover to Barcelona and this year, and we are doing the med 7 day taking in italia this year . So hoping next year will be a new place to go. To expensive to travel to the the states at the moment. :( just for flight it costs more that the whole cruise price in the med :(

Mr. Iger gave a speech that fueled speculation about Hawaii and Asia. There are lots of reason this makes sense....but I guess we'll all be finding out the plans in a few months.

Just did some research today and saw that RCCL has not announced its 2012 Alaska cruises either. They say new ships and changes are coming. Perhaps, Alaska cruising for summer 2012 is all up in the air.

Someone know something out there we don't????:confused3

Royal Caribbean won't announce its plans for Alaska in 2012 until spring...probably April or May. That's the custom with most cruise lines that sail to Alaska.

The Wonder has a 2yr agreement with the Port of Los Angeles with a 3yr option to extend. I believe it was announced in a thread here some time back that the Magic is to become the Ambassador ship for DCL and test new itineraries worldwide. I don't think it will stay in Europe year-round though as the most cruise lines are only there from May until Oct-Nov timeframe. I think the only sure thing to count on is the fact that the Dream/Fantasy are both contracted to stay at PC until at least 2014.

Because DCL doesn't do Glacier Bay, the most spectacular part of an Alaskan cruise, only die-hard DCL fans will likely travel DCL to Alaska, and there's a limited (but dedicated) number of those. The most accurate predictions of future itineraries seem to have come when people could get port reservation information in advance of Disney announcing it; I wish I knew how they did that.
