Where are the speed trap locations in Walt Disney World?

Last December/January when my family & I were at Walt Disney World I think only 1 or 2 times we saw cars pulled over speeding. Anyway I was just wondering where the speed trap locations that the Orlando police set up, or do they keep changing them around?

I forgot to mention that my family & I do not plan to speed while at WDW (lol). I just would like to know what the locations are so I can remind my Dad, if we happen to be going there.

Just remind him when he hits Disney property to obey the speed limit. They do change locations.

I have to say that I almost wish they would set up more, rather than fewer, speed traps around WDW. It's incredible how fast people are moving, and then change their minds about where they want to be on the road. They are, for the most part, out-of-state drivers. I can't imagine driving a bus with all those nutty tourists charging around.

The cops in the area set up speed traps all over WDW property. They hand out lots of tickets every day, so watch your speed throughout WDW!

Most of the speed traps have been set up at the three entrances to Disney. Actually the 2nd, 3rd and 4th entrances. There have been some spotted along the route to the Magic Kingdom. The Orlando Police are not involved, it is the Orange County Sheriffs that are doing the trapping. They stop everyone including tourists, taxis, towncars and busses entering the Kingdom. A lot of vehicles come flying into the kingdom about 65 - 75 miles an hour off of Interstate 4.

Location: EVERYWHERE

I drive all over property all day every day, and I've seen them on every road, in virtually every location.

Better tickets than the accident we saw when last there last summer. :sad2:

The speeders and wild-lane-changers we usually see are Florida residents and many cast members. They are the ones who know exactly where they are going and have little patience for those who don't.

I also see a lot of out of town speeders. You can tell by the bar code on the windows. I can't tell you how many times I almost have been run into by people in a hurry to reach the parks.

I believe it. I have seen them driving like maniacs and figure they are late for work.

Yep, I see them too. And if they aren't speeding they are going 5 MPH, which is just as dangerous (if not more so). Just because it has a Florida tag does not mean that it is a local driver.

My "favorite" :confused3 move is when they go from the left hand lane to the exit on the right all in one move. I guess driving is different in FLorida. :confused3

The vehicular insanity has been going on for as long as I have been going to WDW, and is not limited to Disney property, either. US192, I-Drive, SR535 and SR536 are the roads I travel most when in WDW, and they are all jammed with lunatics - some local, some tourist - who will cut you off, run you off the road, stop in teh middle of a highway, turn from a through lane, go straight from a turn lane, run through red lights without even looking...

The list is endless.

If they were pulled over, how could they be speeding? :rotfl2:
If they were pulled over, how do you know they were stopped for speeding? :confused3

Why don't they ticket the out of towners?
Do they ask you where you work when they pull you over, or can they identify cast members cars ahead of time? :rotfl:

They do ticket the out of towners. This was from an article in the Orlando paper. Once they look at your license they would know where they are from.

Probably the worst for tourists is on I-4, near Kirkman/Universal. They pull them over 2 or 3 at a time. And make no mistake, the speed traps are purely a revenue-generating stunt. I see a lot more dangerous driving habits on Orlando roads that go unchecked. (People running red lights, for instance--a real problem down here.)

For all those staying on property...after you go into the MK gate and heading towards the resorts there is a big speed trap normally around the 3pm shift change...(by now CM are late for work...and tourists don’t notice the drop in speed)....

Red light running has been a real problem in Baltimore over the last few years, too. The city came up with a partial solution - automated red light citation cameras - that was extremely controversial, but actually reduced accidents from light running by something like 60% in teh first few months of implementation.

WillCAD, wish they would pass that here--comes up in the legislature every year, but as far as I know a law has yet to be enacted.
