I read somewhere that there are 2 decks that are not accessible (assume these are the crew quarters). Are they the bottom two level of the ship? Just curious.

Yes there are crew member quarters that are at the bottom of the ship.
Once I went down the stairway (don't remember which, front I think ) I think to Deck 1 at that level there was a doorway that led to a different part of the ship. There is a window in the door that you can peek thru and you can see a bulletin board with posters etc informing the crew of various activities. There were crew members coming and going from this area. I tried to get a better peek thru the window but I kept getting funny looks from the crew member coming and going.

Also if you are getting off of the ship for excursions take a good look at the lower portholes. In some of them you can see stuff like plants etc. I am thinking that might mean the crew is living in this area.

Crew quarters are on decks A and B, which are below deck 1. The guest elevators don't go there...they are accessed by "crew only" stairways. Most of the crew are housed with an assigned roommate. Senior officers, etc. are allowed to bring families on board for vacations.

Last year there was a housing shortage for crew and many of the crew from the Kids Club and the Cruise Staff (game show, pool games, theme night hosts) were housed on Deck 1. We saw many of them coming and going while we were on that Deck. For them it was great because they actually had a porthole and the Cat 9's are much larger than the crew accomodations.

There is a link on my website on the "secrets" page that shows some photos of crew quarters. I have never been there, but I link out to a page on someone else's website who got the photos.
When the crew pool was opened to adults on the Wonder (adult pool was closed for repairs), it was accessed via crew areas on deck 5. We passed their workout area and internet cafe.

Yes, the crew are housed "below water-line"! No access for guests, but as family of a server, we have had permission to go to her cabin a few times. They are EXTREMELY small!!! (Obviously, the officers have better accomodation.) They have bunk beds, tv, small wardrobe+ cabinet, and usually only one chair!(plus a tiny shower/toilet). I suspect most cruise ships have similar cabins for the crew, but they are by no means luxurious! They have cabin inspections regularly and have to keep them clean and tidy. No wonder they all want to get off the ship whenever possible, after a 90hr working week and very little sleep/relaxation! For any people thinking that their life is idyllic..................it's not - but I think the comaraderie between them all makes up for some whinges. Cant be too bad.................... many of the crew have been on the ship since it started! Would I do it if I were 25yrs younger? YOU BET! :Pinkbounc Nat
