I have 2 questions I am hoping you can help me with. I will be travelling to disney (from canada) and wondered if I could purchase duty free alcohol in Toronto airport to consume while we are on vacation in the United States? If so, how do we go about doing this? please be specific, as I have never even sat on a plane before...really!

Secondly, we will be leaving Florida and stopping in the Pearson airport (Toronto) and I want to buy some alcohol to bring home. After we buy it in the duty free store, where do we pick it up again? How do we get it in our checked bags or will they be already been gone through? do we bring it on board with us? Many Thanks, Mickey

Sorry to break the bad news to you but the days of bringing alcohol on a plane are long gone.
I miss bringing a bottle of Grand Marnier, B&B and Drambuie in my carry on bag.
Good Luck All,
Joe

It depends on how your flights are segmented. If you are flying from Toronto non stop to your destination in the US you are golden. You will purchase your items at the DF shop and they will either bring them to you on the plane or they will just give them to you right there. Consume at your hotel. If however you are landing in the US and then connecting to another US-US flight you will be in a pickle since you MAY have to clear US security again and will not be allowed to carry them thru US security control.

You clear customs before leaving Toronto. However, if you have to transfer to another flight in the US, you very well may have to clear security again. If that is the case, simply place your alcohol in your checked bag (which you will have to pick up and recheck in the US if you're on another flight) and you're good to go.

Keep in mind that you can get as good a price or better on alcohol at liquor stores in FL. I have never found duty free liquor to offer any savings over US prices.

On your way home, you cannot shop in the duty free shop at the airport in Toronto if that is your destination. You will have to buy your alcohol in FL or at the Orlando airport. When you buy in a duty free shop, you have to show your boarding pass. Sometimes they wrap up and seal the alcohol and you take it with you on the plane and in some places, they will bring your purchase to the plane.

Maybe not normally. Assume you won't have a car. Would duty free pricing be cheaper then resort pricing for a bottle of liquor? Anytime I looked the resort pricing looked expensive and didn't always have liquor in the right size bottles (larger).
