WDW has a great new deal for 2009 when will something come out for DL? Anyone have any idea when Jan specials might be released? The only thing right now is everyone paying the kids rate but that's not the big package deal that should be coming.... I'm beginning to wonder if I should just do room only with the AP rate.

Typically, DLR only offers the package deals in the fall where you can get 4 nights for the price of 3.

The early year deal has typically just been a parkhopper special (either get an extra day free or pay kids prices). DLR does package deals less frequently because it is more of a locals park, which is why you will see the best parkhopper specials only extended to So. Cal residents and the rest of us pay full rack. (yep, I'm bitter).

I would go ahead and look for an AP rate if you must stay onsite. Otherwise, you can get the best bang for your buck by staying off-site within walking distance and taking advantage of the parkhopper special.

Feel silly answering myself....but I happened to check out Costco's website and they have 2009 specials up now. If you book through Costco for DL hotels or specific good neighbors you get a Character breakfast for all in the room and a $20 disney gift card, plus a lanyard and pin each or you can choose a 3 course meal for 2 at a few resort restaurants. The other deal will probably be available through other agents but doesn't appear to be for now. If you book 4 nights or more at an onsite hotel you get a $150 gift card or the specific good neighbors you get buy 3 nights get 1 free. This is also stacked with the ticket deal of everyone pays the child rate for tickets. This all goes from 1/6/09 to 4/26/09. We were already members of Costco but this deal is probably worth joining and if you decide you don't like the membership after the trip it can be returned. Availability was better booking online than calling. I'm pretty happy with this deal. I saved about $120 on the tickets, over $100 for the breakfast we would have done anyway, and am getting $170 in Disney gift cards which will go pretty far for our other meals. The room was about the same as when I made a room only reservation with a AAA discount.

It seems that if you go in the summer that the best deal is to buy an AP and reserve a room on the AP rate BUT aren't there blackout days with the AP pass?

We are only planning on going to DL this 1 time for 4 or 5 days. Should I just stick with an AAA rate or should I do the AP? I need help with this. WDW is so much easier for discounts.

I DON'T THINK THIS IS ACCURATE. TYPICALLY THE SPECIAL AP RATES AREN'T AVAILABLE DURING THE BUSY SUMMER MONTHS.

BUT aren't there blackout days with the AP pass?

YES, BUT NORMALLY ONLY ON HOLIDAYS &/OR SUMMER SATURDAYS (BUT CHECK THE SCHEDULES)....& FWIW, ON DAYS THAT ARE "BLACKOUT", ONE PROBABLY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO GET A SPECIAL AP HOTEL RATE ANYWAY.

DEPENDS ON WHEN YOU'RE GOING. (& THERE ARE OTHER OPTIONS....SUCH AS THE DEAL THAT THE OP MENTIONS THRU DLR & ALSO POSSIBLY THRU GETAWAYTODAY).

I KIND OF DISAGREE. I ALWAYS SPEND ALOT MORE MONEY AT WDW THAN I DO AT DLR....& TIME IS FAR MORE PRODUCTIVELY SPENT AT DLR.

Have a great time planning a visit to Walt's Park. :thumbsup2
