Where are people staying off site these days?

We went in May, stayed at the Grand. Thinking of making a quick trip for Halloween and staying off site to save a bit.
We would want somewhere we can leave our car the whole day of check out (9 PM or later) that doesn't cost more than $25 for the day, which I've heard is difficult to come by as people are no longer allowed to leave vehicles or it costs a fortune after check out.
Nothing fancy, pool is optional, just somewhere clean and decent.

The Best Western options are all decent. They are clean, relatively inexpensive, and close to the parks.

Just stayed at Park Vue Inn. It was fabulous. Right across the street from the parks and very clean with friendly employees. And they have 100% free parking that to my understanding you can leave the whole day of checkout, but I'm not 100% sure on that piece.

EDIT: Just checked and they allow parking on day of check out until 4pm.

We recently stayed at Hojo on Harbor which is still my go-to spot. They finished their remodel on building two during the long closure. The rooms were attractive, modern, and clean. The beds are very comfortable. The pool is nice but currently needs advance reservations. The sticking point for you though is that while the parking is free, you cannot stay parked after the noon checkout time.

Desert Inn is usually the cheapest, and right at the crosswalk. Plain but clean. Not sure how late you can park. I guess you could park at Gardenwalk your last day? (Hooray for that lucky one person in your party who gets to park and walk over!)

Pre pandemic The Anaheim had parking available even for those not staying there for a fee - I want to say it was $20 a day. We like The Anaheim, it is clean, the pool is big, rooms have cute patios (we always get a ground floor) and balconies. They have Pizza Press and a nice bar on site.

For a super short trip (parks from open to close ;)) we stay at the Desert Inn and Suites - as close as you can get to the entrance. The pool is indoors and pretty small so we don't use it, breakfast is meh but you can get cereal and some fruit. Nothing fancy at all but if you just need a bed and a shower then it's not bad.

Yeah, we need parking until park closes, so thats out for us

That's the thing, its just us two this time, so we really don't want to move to park our car anyway other than the Disney lots, and even then it wouldn't be our first choice

Well that's a bummer. When I stayed at Park Vue in May they were allowing guests to leave cars until 1 hour past park closing on day of checkout. I guess they've changed their policy since then,

No. Currently Best Western Park Place Inn and Mini Suites and Best Western Plus Anaheim Inn are both offering parking until 3pm on checkout day.
I stayed at BWPPI June 23rd, and you can’t park until 1 pm of your check in day. They told me sometimes there’s early parking available and to call in the morning, but when I did, at 6:30, they were very definitely full. They told me to try Tropicana next door which sometimes offers parking, but they were also full. And this was midweek.

I just found that on their website. Maybe OP can call and confirm if they are interested in staying there.

Yeah, I just saw that 4 pm is listed on their FAQ. It was listed as 10 pm (park closing at 9) when I stayed in May so definitely appears they've changed their policy. Too bad, but not surprising given that aligns with what other hotels are doing and they've all been busy recently.

Darn, looks like no hotel stay for us until they fix parking.

we only live an hour away so hotel stays are only for the night before for us to rope drop.

I always stay at the BW Stovalls Inn. It's a little bit further down Katella than some of the other BW--but it's a little cheaper too. I always buy an ART pass and it's not a big deal to ride. It's only $15/day for parking and it's nice to leave the car there all day. I always plan my trips so that I check-out the next morning after our last day, so I haven't run into the parking issue.

Depending on your dates, is booking two nights a possibility? With Park Vue now off the table for us with their policy change, I just found a weekend where two nights at Desert Inn and Suites was only $30 less than one night at Park Vue/Best Western/Tropicana. So we're planning to check in the night before, do Disney all day, not have to drive home late at night and check out the following morning.

Hilton Anaheim would work fine. They have a large parking lot and even if they charged you extra for the check out day, it’s only $24 for a full day. Just ask when you book, they may not even charge you. My stay there Christmas 2019 was quite good, walk to the parks took between 14 and 18 mins to the harbour entrance or about 20-25 mins to the DTD entrance. The parking lot was never even close to full in the 6 nights we stayed there from Dec 21st to 27th. They will also look after your luggage or you can probably leave it in a locked trunk with nothing visible in the car depending how risk adverse you are.
HoJo’s or maybe Fairfield could be other options. We parked at HoJo’s until 6pm one trip without asking and were never questioned about our car.
