Where are my DC area Dis'ers?

We are headed to DC to visit friends in August but we'd love a few days on the beach, relaxing. We are open to suggestions as to which beach and where to stay. I want to be able to walk on the beach and my kids love to build sand castles.

The closest "real" beach to DC is Ocean City, Maryland. You can also go to Fenwick Island, DE (just 10 minutes north of Ocean City). They have a state park there where you can go for day trips. All along that area is Rehobeth, DE, Bethany, Fenwick, and Ocean City.

You can also go to Virginia Beach but that probably adds another 30 minutes onto your ride from DC.

After that, there are closer "beaches" but they are really along the Cheasapeake Bay. Probably not what you had in mind.
