Where are all the Louisiana WDW lovers? UPDATED 1ST POST WITH DATES!

We have only flown to WDW but we may drive for our next trip. Is it horrible? I have 2 kids (ages 6 and 2) and we are not great car riders!

we drove the first time - you "lose" two whole days from NO (12 hours) - I guess leaving 3am you might be able to get there in PM and have a good time....I would think you might be exhausted...we took the plane - non stop is like 1.5 hours (have to adjust ahead 1 hour for time change). we took a 3:30 flight from NO and got there 6:30 or so their time....last time we took a 6:30am (ok that was a BIT too early!) - we were worried because I forgot we can't get in the room until 3pm, but our room WAS ready when we got there at 10am! so we took a nap (we had been up excited the night before) then went to the parks. We make the plane for late in the last day so we can go to parks and have another half day. only problem is can't go back to the room after check out at 10..:(

My husband keeps trying to convince me that there are other places than Disney to vacation :confused3 - really? ;)

yeah - I would love to go somewhere else but DH and DD like to have their "itinerary" planned (no thanks to all the hard work mom puts in - they think ADRs just "happen!). They are both so easily bored and like constant activity...sigh!:confused3

In the past we've flown before and driven too. Last June we drove from the NO area and took 2 days. Just because we like to take our time. Frankly, after the evacuation for Katrina, just the thought of 12 hours in a car gives me the heebie-jeebies.

So, we left on a Saturday about 8:00 am, arrived in Tallahassee in the early afternoon. The next morning it took about 4-4 1/2 hours from Tallahassee to Orlando. Not a bad drive at all.

Guys this will be our 1st time driving from N.O. so can you give me advice on what time of day to leave for DW and how long does it take? ?

Thanks

Hi, We are from Cut Off Louisiana ...that is an hour south of N.O.....It takes us 12 hours...so should take ya'll 11...:dance3:

We are driving from the Westbank and leaving on August 2nd and stoping along the way. In the past we just drove all the way though just around 10 hours.princess:

I just got back from a trip to WDW June 16th to June 23rd for Star Wars Weekends.

I'm from Lafayette.

I'm not sure where to post this - here or on the Transportation Board....

We're thinking of renting a minivan when we make our next WDW trip for Thanksgiving week.

Does anyone know which rental car company in the NO area might be least expensive. Or does anyone know where we might find legitimate codes, coupons or discounts? (I've checked mousesavers and rentalcarmama).

I've been looking online and it seems that to rent the same minivan at MCO is much cheaper than renting it from MSY. (in some cases, more than double the price.) If I can't find a better rate, we may reconsider flying.

Thanks to anyone who might have some helpful advice!:lovestruc

Try checking out the rentals in Baton Rouge and Lafayette, you might have to pick it up a day ahead but it might save you some money.:cool1:

Thanks, jewjubean! I'll look into rentals in those areas to see if I can get a better rate! Also, we have Sam's cards. I believe they may have car rental coupons as well.

Hey guys, Please read the first post again. I have attempted to update where everybody lives, where they will be staying and when they are traveling. Please post if anything has changed.

Here is some updated info for me (since we have added a couple more trips to the agenda for next year :cool1:). Mardi Gras 2009 at CSR/BWV Feb 20 - 27, 2009. May 31 - June 6, 2009 at BCV. Thanksgiving 2009 November 19 - 26, 2009 probably at BCV.

Hey everybody

We are in Morgan City LA. We are planning our first trip as a family in 2010. This will be the first trip for DW and our 2 DD currently 2 and 4. This will be my 4th trip over the past 30 years the last time I went was about 17 years ago so ALOT HAS CHANGED. I have been really excited about planning the trip reading Disboard everyday to look for tips and ideas while at the park, so thanks everybody

Hi all,

My family and I live in West Monroe, La. Any more Louisiana WDW lovers out there?

Okay guys, this thread has grown a good bit since I first started it. It would be great if some of us could actually meet each other while on vacation or at least look for the Louisiana Lime Green Mickey Heads in their resort windows. So, I have gone through the thread and made a list of who is staying where and on what dates.

Some posters didn't give dates or where they were staying. If you want to post this information, I'll go back and amend the original post.

June 29, 2008

Hey Ya'll! It's been a while since I have been on the boards. I had quite a few things happen the last couple of months.

First, my daughter, who is in missionary college, was injured while on a mission trip. Her foot and ankle was caught in a metal door and she was cut pretty badly. Bad enough that even now, a month and a half later, the scab has just now come off. It was hard for her dad and I 'cause she is in Georgia and we are in Louisiana. I don't care that she is 21 years old.....she's still my baby.

Second, my boss and I had a falling out 'cause he let my health insurance lapse and, even though he withheld the money from my paycheck, didn't want to reimburse me. So, I found another paralegal job. More money. Less work. Less hours too!

Bad thing is, I had to start two days before we were supposed to go to WDW! We had to cancel our annual WDW vacation. I was sick to death and, in all honesty, I couldn't even read the Disboards. I just started back last week or so.

Good thing about the new job? He is known to pay for his staff's vacations as a bonus. I've known him for years so I have already told him that I WOULD be going to WDW next year....no matter what. I've also been laying a guilt trip on him about giving up my WDW vacation to go to work for him.

Now I'm feeling better so I'm going to update the list of Louisiana Disney World Lovers.

Sure did!:goodvibes

I am still debating whether or not to book with SW. When the prices were released last week, I was hoping the fares for November would be cheaper ! :lmao:

So, I don't know if I should book now, or wait to see if the price falls. But I'm also worried that some flights might just fill up - seeing as we're travelling Thanksgiving week.

Oh well! I'll figure it out! ;)

In past years the price increased the longer we waited, especially for holiday travel.
