Where are all the crowds?

From Connecticut. I only wear it at work since I’m in a hospital. I mean more in general, social distancing, masks, vaccine boosters, it’s all going to be around and all the talk for the next few years.

Masks in talk and for some will be around but the mandates and rules won't be.

Funny how on the “here and now” thread someone said parks were crowded yesterday! So I take online threads with a grain of salt since one person’s opinion of packed could be totally opposite of another’s.
MK was pretty crowded yesterday. Wait times were about double or more what they were for the several days prior. It wasn't insane, but a very noticeable difference from the weekend and the week prior.

Just curious but does anyone know what touring plans had for today as far as crowd calenda?

MK - 4
HS - 5
AK - 4
EP - 5

More less this is what they have for the next couple of weeks with some 6s on Saturdays at MK and HS.

That’s what I heard. I think sometimes people do long weekends which leads to more crowds Monday and Friday. Our kids here are all off Friday for in service.

Our kids are off Monday and Tuesday. We are pulling them for Friday though. Last I was able to look, Monday was expecting low crowds at MK, and Friday was relatively low crowds at EPCOT early in the day before locals are off work.

Well, our dates were Sept 28-Oct 4. Yesterday (Oct 4) was our check out and flight home, so I wouldn’t know about yesterday’s crowds. All I know is that during our dates most rides were walk ons and we were shocked how few people there were. The most we waited to get on a ride was 30 minutes for ROTR, Slinky Dog & FOP. But if we were choosy about when to ride those we could have waited even less time. Crowds were very light, except for Oct 1 in MK.

Well I can’t get space 220 reservations for last week of oct (27th), so some crowds are expected i guess 😉

Under their "How We Did" section for 10/5:
MK: predicted - 4, actual - 2
EPCOT: predicted - 5, actual - 1
HS: predicted - 5, actual - 2
AK: predicted - 4, actual - 1

Overall crowds: predicted - 4, actual - 2

It must be crowded for next week because we are having trouble finding any dinner table reservations for any of the 4 parks we are visiting. Granted, we are behind the game and just now looking. Booked this trip late, and everything has changed so since I last visited 5 years ago.

We arrive tomorrow. Ironically, today I saw openings for ASMu and ALMo as well as AoA.

Also there is a shortage of staff so some places are not taking as many reservations.

Probably so. I couldn't find a reservation for via napoli but walked up on Monday and was seated in 15 minutes. The place was barely more than 1/2 full.

I can't recall if it was this thread or another, but someone called about the lack of dining reservations available and they were told they were still only at 40% of capacity for dining.

Many restaurants seem pretty full to me, or at least similar to pre-covid times. But it's hard to say for sure just based on perception. 40% is probably an old number, though. A majority of tables are definitely occupied at most places I've been. (I've been here 10 days so far, FWIW)

we spent 4 nights in WDW, visiting before the 50th; fearing crowds would build quickly.

with the exception of Monday, it seems like crowds have been low (based on wait times).

I usually evaluate anticipated crowd levels by room availability. There seems to be no connection lately. Guessing maybe because several resorts are still closed and reduced room capacity at resorts due to staffing?

I tend to agree with others, many factors seem to be international travel, cost, covid spikes, vaccines aren’t approved for children, parents reluctant to pull kids from school, etc.

I guess we will see how crowds fair. In normal years we should see a slow building of crowds into November & December. Will be interesting to see how the last week of October looks. If it’s still low…I’m guessing it’s going to be a weak fall season for Disney.

They are absolutely not running at 40%. Felt like 80% at the busy places I went last week and I got the feeling that was purely because they didn’t have enough staff.

That is no indication of crowds. It is booked up because it’s a new cool themed experience that everyone wants to see.
