Where are all intimate couples doing their after dinner?

We customized out package to fit us. Just Marry has been wonderful as far as what we want for our wedding. I just went for a site visit 3 weeks ago and it was absolutely amazing. Its beautiful. So don't worry Groom2b! Everything looks great! My fiance and I are on a strict budget, how much does it cost to eat at Palio's?

Hi Jess
We finished our wonderful wedding and it was perfect:teeth:
so allow me to say that your Swan wedding will be just as perfect if not even better :thumbsup2 Just Marry did a wonderful job for us, if there was anything imperfect, I'm sure it's too insignificant for us to notice.
Check you budget against the disney menus online, all the prices are somewhat current. What we did is just take a good estimate on what each people will cost to eat. our meal expenses were well within our planned budget.
When you arrive to the hotel. remember to try arrange time to meet with the catering manager and chefs to discuss the final details on your cakes and etc. you won't be disappointed!
Good luck and pm me if you have more questions i can answer.

We had dinner at California Grill and I can easily say it was the absolute WORST part of our wedding/stay in Disney.

While the restaurant is quite lovely...it is noisy and not at all intimate or romantic, perhaps a private room there would be better.

I had heard such wonderful things about the CM's there and I was SO disappointed. I can't really pinpoint why I felt the way I did...but I felt as though we were "beneath" them. It was just a weird feeling. They knew it was our wedding night...and it just felt like they thought we expected something special. All we "expected" was a good meal and maybe some "Congratulations"...and it didn't happen. I have to admit, though, that seeing our names and "event" on the marquis in the lobby of the CR was really cool! :teeth:

We did have a nice table by the window so we could watch Wishes...but to be honest, I would have preferred we were in the park seeing them. It certainly wasn't worth over $100 to see them in the restaurant.

The food was not to our liking...just totally not our style...and, unfortunately, that (combined with everything else) really left us with a bad feel for the place. We will never go there again.

Looking back, I wish we had chosen something else..although I'm not sure what. We have only been to WDW once (our wedding/honeymoon) and we didn't go to too many sit-down places to eat. And of those, I'm not sure any of them were what I would consider to be "special" enough for a wedding dinner. My only advice is REALLY look at the menus (even though they do change) for the places you are considering...make sure there is an option you know you and your guests will really like and, IMO, the "atmosphere" will create itself...it's your wedding night  and there isn't much that can take away that incredible feeling!!! :)

I see your posts so often, I thought you were a seasoned veteran! That's great that you already are planning to buy into DVC after only one trip. We are also saving for DVC... hopefully one day that dream will become a reality. Good luck to you! ~Ev

A friend of mine is planning a group vacation (it’s a reunion). She asked me to recommend some private dining options at Disney’s resort restaurants. I sent her the following information. After perusing this thread, I thought I would share it here, too, since it might prove useful to some of you.

There are various options for private meals at some of Disney’s signature restaurants. I will mention the Grand Floridian's restaurants here.

The Grand Floridian Resort has two restaurants with private offerings: Victoria & Albert’s and Citrico’s.

Victoria & Albert’s actually has two secluded rooms – the Chef’s Table (basically inside the restaurant’s kitchen) and the Fireplace Room (I’m not sure what this room is called officially but it has a fireplace in it):

• The Chef’s Table has one seating per night and it seats 10 guests maximum
• The Fireplace Room may sometimes be reserved before normal restaurant hours (I can’t remember the maximum number of guests that it will accommodate)

Citrico’s has the Chef’s Domaine. This room has two seatings per night and it seats 12 people maximum.

Please note that there are usually minimum food and beverage fees that must be met in order to reserve these private rooms.

Another option for a private meal can be found at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Its signature restaurant, Jiko - The Cooking Place, has a private dining room that is named the Cape Town Wine Room. This private room seats up to 40 people.

Please note that there is usually a minimum food and beverage fee that must be met in order to reserve this private room.

I hope that helps. And I also hope these private rooms are an option for an Intimate wedding party. The way that Disney has been cracking down recently on the Intimate wedding couples makes me leery of sharing this information. If anyone discovers that these restaurants are not an option, please let me know and I will alter this post.

Nah...I just like to talk alot! ;) :rotfl:

When we were there we stayed at the Boardwalk and we stopped by the Villas one day to talk to the DVC rep (wish we had taken him up on the "tour and gift" then...but we were pressed for time). Anyway, we both absolutely fell in love with the Boardwalk and we are DYING to go back. But it's expensive! :teeth: We figured DVC is the best way to go...so by this time next year we should be well on our way to being owners and REALLY planning our next trip. We're pretty excited about that!!

We are also having our reception dinner at O'hana followed by a night at Pleasure Island! If you don't mind me asking how many people do you expect? We are thinking around 30 will be at our wedding. I haven't called yet and made the reservation because it isn't until October 29th. I'm trying to time it so we can eat and then watch the electrical pageant from outside - I am thinking a 7:00 reservation would work. I was just curious to see what other people are doing.

We've booked Gaylord Palms Resort for our reception following our intimate at WP. Mum just wasn't happy with eating in a Disney restaurant. She just wanted something private and it seemed from reading posts that private dining as an intimate is a big no no. We had considered Shula's but Gaylord Palms resort blew us away.

They have been amazing. We are having a private dinner with bar held in their Wedding Gazebo. It is beautiful and only about 10 mins from Disney. We get a champagne toast and 3 courses. There is no room charge and no real minimum. Our food is $86 ph plus 3 hour bar at under $30.

Following our meal we plan to head to Auggies Bar which has duelling Pianos to chill out to.
Here's a link to their website and pics.
