When you were growing up ,who were your people?

When I was growing up, we didn't have "people". As a kid, your people were the other kids in your neighbor hood, and maybe a few kids you saw at church that didn't live very close. Same thing with the kids on your Little League or Pop Warner team. In high school, we still hung out with the kids we grew up with, but added new friends as interests became more defined (sports, band, student government, whatever). Maybe as a junior or senior, musical tastes and pop culture started to influence who you spent time with (in high school, we had rock, new wave, and the tail end of punk). I'm still friends with the guys I went to first grade with and played Little League with 50 years ago.

When young the neighborhood “gang”. Elementary school added some classmates from other neighborhoods to the mix. In high school some classmates and those who participated in the same group activities. I don’t think I can cover anywhere near everyone with a label or two. They pretty much ran the gamut.
